Services for Horace Speights Jr., of Oakvale, are 4 p.m. today,Sept. 7 at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello with burial in OakvaleBaptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Speights, 79, died Sept. 5, 2005, at the Mississippi StateVeteran’s Nursing Home in Jackson. He was born on April 6, 1926, toHorace Levi Speights Sr. and Bessie Allen Speights.

He was a retired carpenter for Sheppard Builders in Jackson. Heserved in the Army during World War II. He was a member of OakvaleBaptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Janice AnnSpeights Davis; a sister, Sarah Speights Hill; and agreat-grandchild, Macy Lynn Mason.

Survivors are his wife, Ilyss Daniels Speights, of Oakvale; hisdaughter, Wanda Kaye Daley, of Monticello; his sons, RickySpeights, of Hattiesburg, and James Carroll Speights, of Prentiss;11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
