Lab offers place to seek FEMA aid

The Copiah-Lincoln Community College mobile lab, located next tothe Brookhaven-Lincoln County Government Complex on South FirstStreet, will be open from 8 a.m. until noon and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.Thursday and Friday to allow displaced residents to file onlineapplications for FEMA assistance.

Financial assistance will not be provided at the facility.Rather, residents may access the government agency’s Web site tofill out the proper forms. The site may be accessed from anycomputer connected to the Internet at www.fema.gov.

The mobile lab’s availability, provided as a joint venture amongthe city of Brookhaven, the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber ofCommerce and Co-Lin, is meant to allow people who cannot currentlyaccess computers connected to the Internet elsewhere to file thenecessary paperwork with the Federal Emergency Management Agency inorder to receive disaster assistance.
