Lady ‘Cats sack Salem

TYLERTOWN — Bogue Chitto’s Chelsey Miller homered, tripled andsingled Tuesday to help the Lady ‘Cats to a 9-0 Division 7-1A winover the Salem Lady Wildcats in glrls slowpitch softball play atTylertown’s Water Park.

Latoya Braxton (11-1) was the winning hurler with one walk.

Bogue Chitto outhit Salem 14-3 at the plate and committed twoerrors.

“We got off to a good start, then we got quiet for severalinnings,” said Bogue Chitto coach Scott Leggett. “We hit the ballwell in the final three innings. I’m proud of the girls. It was agreat district win.”

Contributing to the varsity win with a double and two singleswas Meleah Brown. Tripling and singling was Braxton. Kelli Howardand Dori Hall each singled twice. Devon Welch and Shaquille Burtonsingled.

Junior varsity

The Wildcats (6-2) knocked off the Wildcats 3-1 in JV play.Christianna May fanned one batter and walked four for the win.

Josie Porter tripled for Bogue Chitto. Hannah Nichols, HollyMiller and Blaine Myers singled.

“The JV did a good job,” added Leggett. “We made some bigdefensive plays.”

Bogue Chitto (12-1, 3-0) hosts Cathedral for another districttest Thursday. The JV begins at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity at6.
