BC girls sweep Cathedral

BOGUE CHITTO — Chelsey Miller smashed two home runs and asingle to lead the Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats to a 9-1 district winover the Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Waves Thursday in girlsslowpitch softball action.

Bogue Chitto improved to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in districtplay.

Latoya Braxton (12-1) was the winning pitcher with threestrikeouts and one walk. Brandi McGraw absorbed the loss.

“It was a great district win,” said Bogue Chitto coach ScottLeggett. “I am proud of our effort. Our next game is Saturday inthe North Pike Tournament.”

Contributing to the Bogue Chitto win with a homer was Braxton.Tripling and singling was Candace Avants. Kelli Howard singledtwice. Hitting safely were Meleah Brown, Devon Welch, Dori Hall,Jessie Miller and Sharquille Burton.

Megan Whittington and Jennifer Benard ripped two singles apiecefor Cathedral.

Junior varsity

Mikki MItchell tripled and singled to lead the Bobcats to a 16-7win over Cathedral.

Adding support to the Bogue Chitto win with a pair of singleswas Morgan Roberts. Blaine Myers, Kim Thomas, Holly Miller,Chassity Moak, Hannah Holmes and Bradi Davis singled.

Christianna May posted the win on the mound.

Bogue Chitto battles host North Pike at 11 a.m. and Brookhavenat 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
