Marzell ‘Marcie’ Ratcliff
Services for Marzell “Marcie” Ratcliff, of Brookhaven, are 2p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 at Alexander Junior High School auditoriumwith burial in St. Paul Church Cemetery in Caseyville.
Visitation is Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. with family hour from 6to 7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.
Mrs. Ratcliff, 53, died Sept. 12, 2005, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born on Jan. 1,1952, to M.B. Johnson and Clessia Johnson.
She was an administrative assistant at the Oliver House inWesson. She was a member of St. Paul M.B. Church in Caseyville.
Preceding her in death were her father, M.B. Johnson; herbrother, J.W. Johnson; and her sister, Clementine Thompson.
Survivors are her husband, Arthur Ratcliff Sr., of Brookhaven;her mother, Clessia Johnson, of Brookhaven; her sons, Howard Levy,of Natchez, Arthur Ratcliff Jr., of Columbia, and Dexter Ratcliff,of Sharon, Pa.; her daughter, Angela Turner, of Natchez; hersister, Nora Lee Freeman, of Brookhaven; 15 grandchildren; and manynieces, nephews and other relatives.
Wood L. Thornhill
Services for Wood L. Thornhill, of Bogalusa, La., are 2:30 p.m.Saturday, Sept. 17 at Poole Funeral Home in Bogalusa.
Visitation is Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. Thornhill, 89, died Sept. 9, 2005, at Ville Platte, La.,after being evacuated from a Slidell nursing facility ahead of thehurricane. He was born in Brookhaven on Sept. 25, 1916, to John andNettie Boyte Thornhill, of Brookhaven.
He graduated from East Lincoln School and served in World WarII. He was a retired Allstate Insurance agent.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Martiel PellThornhill; his daughter, Sherry Thornhill Seals; his brother, J.H.Thornhill Jr., of Brookhaven, Jack Thornhill, of Jackson, andForest Thornhill, of La Place, La.
Survivors are his sons, Tommy and David Thornhill, of Slidell;his sister, Polly Thornhill Hagan, of Brookhaven; his brother,Collins, of Port Arthur, La.; his grandchildren; and several niecesand nephews.
