Peggy Jo Tullos Bullard

Graveside services for Peggy Jo Tullos Bullard, of Brookhaven,are 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19 at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery inMagee.

Mrs. Bullard, 64, died Sept. 16, 2005, at her residence. She wasborn on Nov. 2, 1938, to Byron Tullos and Minnie McWilliamsTullos.

She was a bookkeeper and a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, PerryBullard; her brother, Lavell Tullos; and her granddaughter, AdrianElise Bullard.

Survivors are her sons, Keith Bullard, of Brookhaven, KevinBullard and his wife, Tamara Bullard, of Madison, and KennyBullard, of Brookhaven; her daughter, Kim Reed, and her husband,Lester, of Brookhaven; her brothers, Larry Tullos and his wife,Paula, Vernon Tullos and his wife, Sybil, George Tullos and hiswife, Ruby, and James Tullos and his wife, Ann; her sister, BillieTullos; seven grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Clinton Byrd

Services for Clinton Byrd, of Brookhaven, were 3 p.m. Sunday,Sept. 18 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with burial in thechurch cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Byrd, 90, died Sept. 16, 2005, at Countrybrook LivingCenter. He was born in Pike County on Nov. 23, 1914, to JamesMonroe Byrd and Beulah Herring Byrd.

He was a retired contractor and in the wood business. He was amember of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Martell SmithByrd; his daughter, Janice Novak; and his brother, CharlesByrd.

Survivors are his daughters, Bonnie Beach and her husband,Robert, of Brookhaven, and Shirley Nations and her husband, Jerry,of Brookhaven; his brother, William Byrd and Lewis “Tuck” Byrd,both of Brookhaven; his grandchildren, Randy Day, Greg Day, AmandaRussell, Rhonda Rayborn, Tanza Brown, Laura Massey, Janee’ Novak,and Jamison Novack; his 16 great-grandchildren; and his care giver,Yvonne Scott, of Caseyville.

Marco Qualls

Services for Marco Qualls, of Chicago, were 11 a.m. Monday,Sept. 19 at Progressive Baptist Church with burial in AbrahamLincoln National Cemetery.

Mr. Qualls, 74, died Sept. 13, 2005. He was born in Lucien onOct. 10, 1930, to Sam and Dolly Qualls.

He was educated in Franklin County. He served in the Korean Warfrom 1951 to 1953 before being honorably discharged. He madeChicago his home and worked there for 25 years at U.S. Steel. In1956 he married Armentha Hannibal, who preceded him in death. InJuly 1982, he united with Progressive Baptist Church and wasordained as a deacon on Dec. 10, 2000. He served faithfully in theSunday 5 a.m. Prayer Band, Victory Club, C.R. McCalpin Mission,Sunday School Class No. 2 and the Ralph Collins Male Chorus. He wasalso a faithful worker with the Christian Rescue Missions. Hemarred Lillian B. Parnell on Oct. 31, 1987.

Preceding him in death were his father, Sam; and his firstwife.

Survivors are his wife, Lillian; two sons, Melvin Hannibal, ofNew Jersey, and Charles Qualls, of Chicago; five daughters,Latricia Riley, Rhonda Hannibal, Tara Jenkins, R. Sheree ParnellBooth and M. Alicia Parnell; his mother, Beatrice, of Monticello;five brothers, Herbert, Stan, of Brookhaven, Nolen, of Jackson,Ernest, of Tylertown, and Vernell, of Brookhaven; three sisters,Rubinetta Short, of Detroit, Mich., Jacqueline Evans, ofMonticello, and Phyllis Qualls-Brooks, of Nashville, Tenn.; ninegrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Juanita T. Smith

Services for Juanita T. Smith, of Brookhaven, were 2 p.m.Friday, Sept. 16 at Big Springs Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Community Funeral Services was in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Smith, 77, died Sept. 14, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born on Dec. 8, 1927, to Luther Thornton and MaryReed Thornton.

She was a homemaker and retired from Kellwood.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, OkleyWatson Smith; her son, Paul L. Smith; her daughter, Mary K. Smith;two sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors are her daughters, Judy Boyd, and her husband, Jerry,of Ruth, Norma J. Kennison and her husband, Bobby, Linda D. Coonand Joyce Watts, all of Brookhaven; her sister, Margaret Lane, ofArkansas; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren.
