Bogue Chitto nips West Lincoln

The visiting Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats exploded for three runsin the top of the eighth inning to pull out a 5-2 slowpitchsoftball district win over the West Lincoln Lady Bears Thursdaynight. The was tied 2-all after seven innings.

The Bobcats (16-2, 6-0) outhit the Bears (8-6, 3-1) 10-7 at theplate. West Lincoln committed five errors to Bogue Chitto’sone.

“It was great to win a game like that,” said Bogue Chitto coachScott Leggett.”Defensively we made some huge plays. We did not hitthe ball well. We played well as a team when our backs were to thewall.”

Bogue Chitto 5, West Lincoln 2

The game was scoreless for five full innings. West Lincoln wentup 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth on a pair of singles from HolliSmith and Keri Easley that scored two runs.

Bogue Chitto tied the game in the top of the seventh with tworuns. Caitlin Owens singled to score Jessie MIller and ShaquilleBurton scored the tying run.

Caitlin Owen singled to drive in the go ahead run in the top ofthe eighth. Chelsey Miller tripled to drive in two more runs as theBobcats held of the Bears to keep the win.

“We made some bad throws in the seventh and eighth inning whichgave Bogue Chitto the opportunity to win the game,” said WestLincoln head coach Andrew Redd. “We kept ourselves in the gameuntil those two innings and our defense let down.”

Powering the Bobcats with two more singles was Owens. CandaceAvants singled twice. Devon Welch, Jessie Miller, Shaquile Burton,and Latoya Braxton hit safely.

Kacey Smith singled twice for the Bears. Holli Smith, KeriEasley, Brittani Phillips, Megan Neal and Hannah Knouse hitsafely.

Braxton was the winner on the mound with no strikeouts and onewalks. Phillips absorbed the loss, fanning one batter and walkingfour.

Junior Varsity

Bogue Chitto came back in the fourth inning to take a 5-4 leadand held off West Lincoln for the win.

Leading the 9-2 Bobcats with a double and a single was HollyMiller. Hannah Nichols, Kimberly Thomas and Hannah Holmessingled.

Ashley McCaffrey tripled and singled for the Bears. Meagan Nealtripled. Singling twice was Julie Case. Taylor Crews hitsafely.
