James Vercie Case

Services for James Vercie Case of Smithdale were 2 p.m. Sundayat Ramah Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.Brookhaven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Case, 89, died Sept. 30, 2005, at his residence. He was bornin Lincoln County on March 15, 1916, to John V. Case and MaudePosey Case.

He was retired from ICG Railroad after 34 years. He was theeldest deacon and had been a Sunday School teacher at Ramah BaptistChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mattie LeeLofton Case; his son, Billy Joe Case; his brothers, Homer Case,Millard Case, C.L. Case, Ike Case and Shelton Case; his sisters,Edna Porter and Mary Dell Smith; and his grandson, Joe GaineyCase.

Survivors are his daughter, LaWanda Dixon and her husband Peteof Brookhaven; his daughter-in-law, Frances Faye Case of Smithdale;his grandchildren, Bob Dixon of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ken Dixon andwife Donna of Brookhaven and Billie Ann Ashley and her husband Tobyof Smithdale; and his great-grandchildren, Garrett Ashley, KarriDixon, Rhett Dixon, Will Dixon and Lee Jones.
