Lady Panthers go 3-4 over weekend

The host Brookhaven Lady Panthers went 2-1 Saturday in Pool Oneof the Ole Brook Slowpitch Softball Classic at the Hansel KingSportsplex. Brookhaven fell to St. Andrew’s 10-9 in the opener thencame back to beat Madison Central 7-2 and Wesson 14-6.

Last Friday, Brookhaven whipped Mendenhall 11-1.

Brookhaven hosts district for Florence for one varsity gametoday beginning at 5 p.m. at Mamie Martin Field.

Brittany Smith (16-4, 7-1) went 2-1 in the tourney.

St. Andrew’s 10, Brookhaven 9

In Saturday’s opener, Sabrina Delaughter powered the Pantherswith 4 singles. Christi Martin doubled and singled twice. Smashing3 singles each were Terri Hodges and Ashley Sykes. Kelly Vinson andKatie Stewart drilled 2 singles apiece. Jana Wallace, Katie Smithand Brittany Smith singled.

Brookhaven 7, Madison Central 2

Hodges’ directed Brookhaven in Saturday’s first win with 4singles. Martin slammed a home run. Brittany Smith collected 3singles. Following with a pair of singles each were Julie Bristerand Wallace. Sykes, Stewart and Vinson hit safely.

Brookhaven 14, Wesson 6

Saturday’s final game saw Sykes belt a homer and a single forBrookhaven. Singling 3 times was Wallace. Brittany Smith and Hodgesfollowed with 2 singles apiece. Singling were Katie Smith, Martin,DeLaughter, Brister, Vinson and Stewart.

Brookhaven 11, Mendenhall 1

In Friday’s game, Katie Smith led Brookhaven with 3 singles.Doubling and singling was Sykes. Brittany Smith and Stewart ripped2 singles apiece. Hitting safely were Martin, Brister, Vinson andWallace.
