The Brookhaven Academy Cougars are back home Friday night tohost the Centreville Academy Tigers in District 4-AA footballaction. The game begins at 7 p.m.

Area academy football action includes Silliman at CopiahAcademy, Parklane at Hillcrest and Union at Prentiss Christian.

Brookhaven, coached by Ray Ishee, fell to 1-2 in district playand 4-3 on the season after bowing to Oak Forest 44-20 in a hugeDistrict 4-AA test last Friday.

Centreville Academy (3-4, 2-1) whipped Amite School Center 35-0last week. The Tigers are tied with Trinity for third place in thedistrict.

“Centreville has a lot of team speed,” said Ishee. “They arequick on defense. They play an eight-man front defensively. Theyrun from a wing-T offense with a lot of misdirection.”

Ishee said the Cougars will have to play consistent defenseagainst Centreville.

“Defensively, we have to do a good job of staying home andreading our keys,” explained Ishee. “Offensively, we have to getthem out of their eight-man front and throw the ball well.”

In Brookhaven’s loss to Oak Forest, Cougar quarterback PriceSessums scored a touchdown and rushed the football 11 times for 57yards. Sessums completed 11 of 16 passes for 192 yard and atouchdown. Steven Covington returned a fumble for a 29-yardscore.

Defensively, Paul Davis led the Cougars with 14 tackles. Making13 stops was Kolby Byrd, followed by Wesley Taylor with 10.

“We played a really good football team last week,” added Ishee.”We made some mistakes early on. We didn’t do what we needed to do.It was a pretty rough night.

“We are going to regroup. I think we’ve had a good week ofpractice. I think we will rebound and play well this week.”

Copiah, coached by Mitch Mitchell, celebratedhomecoming last Friday with a 12-0 win over non-division foePresbyterian Christian School. The Colonels improved their overallworksheet to 6-1 and remain 2-1 in District 3-AA play.

The Colonels are back at Gallman to entertain Silliman Institute(3-5, 1-4) out of the District 4-AA. Last Friday, Silliman droppeda 15-14 decision to Bowling Green in a key district game.

Colonel tailback David Brunt powered the Copiah running gameagainst Presbyterian Christian with 24 rushes for 93 yards. DanielSims rushed eight times for 56 yards.

On defense, Danny Pyles led the Colonels with 13 tackles and afumble recovery.

Parklane, coached by Charlie Newlon, is comingoff 49-12 cakewalk over Central Private, La. The Pioneers are 4-1overall and remain 1-1 in District 2-AAA Division 1 play. Parklanetravels to Hillcrest (6-1, 3-0) for a division test.

Hillcrest Christian knocked off Madison Ridgeland 18-10 lastweek.

In the win over Central Private, Les Mulkey kicked seven extrapoints for Parklane. Mulkey also rushed for 175 yards and twotouchdowns. He also scored a TD on a 90-yard kickoff return.

Union, coached by John Dickerson, fell toSylva-Bay 40-7 last Friday. With the loss, the Saints fell to 0-3in District 6-A action and 1-5 on the season.

Union invades Prentiss Christian School (3-4, 1-1). PCS whippedCM&I 44-14 last Friday in non-district play.
