Services for Geneva E. Smith Davis, of Gilmer, Texas, are 10a.m. today, Oct. 26 at Harrigill Funeral Home with burial in NewSalem Cemetery in Franklin County.

Visitation was Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Davis, 89, died Oct. 23, 2005, at the Bradford HouseAssisted Living Home in Gilmer, following a brief illness. She wasborn in Franklin County on Jan. 27, 1916, to John Allen and LucySmith.

She was a nurse. While in Brookhaven she worked for Dr. HiramBatson and King’s Daughters Hospital. She attended New ProspectBaptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Willie LeeDavis; and a son, Willie Jewel Davis.

Survivors are her daughter-in-law, Juanita Davis, of Diana,Texas; her two grandsons, Jim Davis, of Longview, Texas, and JerryDavis, of Diana; and five great-grandchildren, John Davis, of SanAntonio, Texas, Lindsey Davis, of Memphis, Tenn., Graham Davis, ofSan Antonio, and Hayden Davis and Trent Davis, both of Diana.

Ruth Doyle

Services for Ruth Doyle, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. Thursday,Oct. 27 at Community Funeral Services with burial in RamahCemetery.

Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Doyle, 75, died Oct. 25, 2005, at her residence. She wasborn on July 27, 1931, to Eddie L. Furr and Lavada Palmer Furr.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter; and asister.

Survivors are her daughters, Teresa Lynn Norris, of Wyoming, andLindsey Joe Cronin, of Pine, La.; her sons, Edward Cronin, ofDenham Springs, La., Jackie Holland, of South Dakota, Johnny AndrewCronin, of Baton Rouge, La., and Billy Joe Cronin, of DenhamSprings; her brother, Eddie Furr, of Brookhaven; and 16grandchildren.

Dr. William Brooks Holliday

Services for Dr. William Brooks Holliday, of Brookhaven, are 11a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at Faith Presbyterian Church. Gravesideservices will be held at 2:30 p.m. at McNair Cemetery in Mt.Olive.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Riverwood Family FuneralService.

Dr. Holliday, 72, died Oct. 23, 2005, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born on May 19, 1933, to William D Hollidayand Martha Eloise Brooks.

He was a retired physician. He also retired from the Air Force.He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, the AOA Medical HonorSociety, Sons Of the Confederate Veterans and Sons of the AmericanRevolution.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Shirley Chain Holliday; his sister,Martha Roush and her husband, John, of Seminole, Fla.; threesisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces andnephews.

Swep Hugh Lovitt Jr.

Services for Swep Hugh Lovitt Jr., of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Thursday, Oct. 27 at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRiverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Lovitt, 83, died Oct. 24, 2005, at Countrybrook LivingCenter. He was born in Pachuta in Clarke County on July 12, 1922,to Swep Hugh Lovitt and Grace Evans.

He was self employed. He was a member of First United MethodistChurch and the Noon Lions Club. In 1949 Mr. Lovitt opened LovittOil Co., which he owned and operated until 1969. In 1969, he movedto Brookhaven and opened White’s Auto which was in business from1969 to 1982. In his later years he was in the real estatebusiness. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Michael NobleLovitt; and one brother, Evans Lovitt.

Survivors are his wife, Edna Noble Lovitt, of Brookhaven; hisdaughter, Lisa Lovitt Thompson, of Madison; his son, Swep HughLovitt III, of Memphis, Tenn.; his sister, Margaret Lovitt Moore,of Albertville, La.; his brother, Ralph “Rip” Cameron Lovitt, ofNatchez; and five grandchildren.

Velma Hilburn Moak

Services for Velma Hilburn Moak, of Chalmette, La., are 11 a.m.Thursday, Oct. 27 at Catchings Funeral Home with burial in Mt.Pleasant Cemetery in Norfield.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 11a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moak, 81, died Oct. 24, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Line Creek, La., on March 27, 1924 to JamesArthur Hilburn and Annie Belle Travis Hilburn.

She was a restaurant manager.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, JamesJudson Moak; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors are her two sons, Jerry Lynn Harris, of Ellisville,and Ronald Gilbert Moak, of Chalmette; one daughter, Deborah A.Moak, of Chalmette; one brother, Herbert Hilburn, of Chalmette; onesister, Jean Flores, of New Orleans; and numerous nieces, nephewsand other family members and friends.
