Chamber announces parade float winners

Hundreds lined downtown streets Thursday night for Brookhaven’sannual Christmas parade.

Spectators were treated to a parade of brightly-decorated floatsand waving and cheering participants. Jackson State University’sSonic Boom of the South thrilled the crowd and Santa Claus came toadd some more holiday spirit to the festivities.

Lincoln Residential Center captured the best overall prizeawarded by the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce.

Other award winners included the Easthaven Baptist ChurchChildren’s Choir for religious theme and Thompson’s Learning Centerin the school theme category.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and Pine BeltConstruction tied for the win in the general category while F&MStables and Sassy Catt II tied for the small business award.

Brookhaven Police Chief Pap Henderson said today there were noincidents reported during the parade.
