West Lincoln wins Lincoln Co. Tourney

The West Lincoln girls and boys basketball teams capturedchampionship gold in the Lincoln County Round-Robin TournamentSaturday night, at the Enterprise Gym.

The Lady Bears captured the girls division crown with a 50-40win over the host Lady Jackets. The Bears grabbed the boys titlewith a 73-59 win over the Enterprise Yellow Jackets.

In other tournament action, the Loyd Star girls got by BogueChitto 45-34, while the Loyd Star boys etched out a 62-59 win overBogue Chitto.

All 4 teams return to the hardwood Tuesday. Enterprise hostsBogue Chitto for 4 games, beginning at 4 p.m. Loyd Star travels toHinds AHS, while West Lincoln heads to St. Aloysius inVicksburg.

Loyd Star 45, Bogue Chitto 34

The Lady Hornets (4-5), coached by Lori Britt, got a game-high14 points from Hailey Ratcliff. Shannon Chester followed with 11points, while Haley Sones tossed in 10.

“We did a better job of defending Bogue Chitto’s post players,”said Loyd Star coach Lori Britt. “We’ve played much better the lasttwo games.”

The Lady Hornets (4-5) were led on the backboards by Ratcliffwith 13 rebounds, plus 4 assists and 3 steals. Chester had 11boards, 3 steals and 2 assists. Brittany Brown had 6 rebounds.

The Lady Bobcats (4-5) were led by Meleah Brown with 12points.

Loyd Star 62, Bogue Chitto 59

The Hornets (6-3), coached by Gene “Moochie” Britt got 17 pointsfrom Rickey Barnes and 15 from Tyler Williford. Bobcat head coachAndy Smithie was led by Dontae Ratcliff with a game-high 20 points.Keyounna Perkins followed with 13 for Bogue Chitto (3-6).

West Lincoln 50, Enterprise 40

The Lady Bears (6-4), coached by Lane Young, were led by CandyHerring with 19 points and Erica Shaw with 15. Alisha Mason pacedthe Lady Jackets (4-4) with a game-high 27 points; includingEnterprise’s first 17 points of the night for head coach JillNations.

West Lincoln 73, Enterprise 59

Young’s Bears (8-2) were paced by Aaron Shaw, who scored ateam-high 19 points; along with 5 treys. Shane Lynch and JeremyByrd tossed in 14 points apiece.

The Jackets (1-7) got a 20-point performance from Chris Fuller.Cory Everett tallied 19 for first-year head coach Josh Bass.
