Bucks winner’s family in line for extra presents

Everyone in Sloane Smith’s family will get an extra Christmasgift this year since she became the fifth weekly winner of $100 inhometown bucks in The DAILY LEADER’s annual Hometown Christmaspromotion this week.
“I got lucky this year and finished (shopping) early,” she said,”so I guess everybody gets an extra Christmas gift.”
The 29-year-old is married to Josh Smith and the couple has a17-month-old daughter, Sara Rogers.
Sloane Smith’s winning entry was submitted at Expectations,where she went to buy a baby gift for a new mother. Although shehad only submitted one entry at that store, Smith said entries werealso submitted at other participating businesses.
She said this year was the couple’s first to participate in thepromotion because they moved to Brookhaven in February fromBirmingham, Ala., so Josh Smith, a Brookhaven native, could workwith his father.
The $100 in hometown bucks can be spent at any of the merchantsparticipating in the promotion. Participating merchants this yearinclude:

Forms and boxes have placed at each merchant locations forshoppers to submit entries. Residents may register at the banks butmay not spend their winnings there.
Every week during the contest, one name is drawn from eachparticipating merchant. From those, one name is drawn for theweekly $100 prize.
All entries are saved and at the end of the contest on Dec. 16,the $500 grand prize winner is drawn.
