Services for Jessie Lee James, of Monticello, are 11 a.m.Thursday, Dec. 29 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Monticello withburial in Monticello Municipal Cemetery.

Mrs. James, 91, died Dec. 24, 2005, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born on Aug. 21,1914, to Jesse Young and Clellie Abigail Ripley.

She was a retired telephone directory employee with L.M. Berryand Co. in Dayton, Ohio, and Jackson. She was a member ofMonticello United Methodist Church.

Mrs. James became a widow in 1943 taking the role of a singleparent, however, she continued to provide for her family holdingmany different jobs. She worked in management in the SearsDepartment Stores; she managed the Majestic Theatre in Jackson andGreenville; she was an employee counselor in New Orleans; and thenshe retired with L.M. Berry and Company as a telephone directoryemployee, where she sold yellow page listings, along with manyother things.

Mrs. James, at 91 years of age, was very sharp-minded and aGodly person. She was thought of by her friends and neighbors askind and helping and a person thinking of others’ welfare. She wasa very independent person.

Mrs. James loved her only granddaughter Jannette James. She wasa very sincere and personable person with a strong personality.

Her hobbies were writing poetry and reading.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, JimmyTillman James.

Survivors are her son, Jimmy M. James, of Bridge City, Utah; anda granddaughter, Jannette James.
