Services for Mattie Sue Keith, of Hazlehurst, are 2 p.m. Friday,Jan. 6 at First Baptist Church in Hazlehurst with burial in theNatchez Trace Cemetery. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home is incharge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Keith, 85, died Jan. 2, 2006, at her residence.
Matt, the name she liked to be called, loved music. From thetime she was a girl until the day she died, music was how she letthe world touch her heart and how she touched the heart of theworld. She loved to sing in church, ballroom dance and watchLawrence Welk on television. In her senior years, she was active inthe Jazz Club, of Jackson, and performed with the Pat PattersonOrchestra. She sang and played the tambourine.
Survivors are her son, Edwin Keith Jr., of Hazlehurst; herdaughter, Janet Keith Schriver and her husband, Ed, of Hazlehurst;her sisters, Georgia Massey and her husband, Mack, of Brookhaven,and Quida Hancock, of Picayune; a grandson, James Dennis Ross andhis wife, Samara; a granddaughter, Melanie Mills and her husband,Michael; her great-grandsons, Michael Mills and J.D. Ross; hergreat-granddaughter, Andie Ross; and numerous nieces, nephews andcousins.
