Max Henry Ford

Graveside services for Max Henry Ford, of Brookhaven, were 11a.m. today, Jan. 5 at Terry Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home wasin charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ford, 84, died Jan. 3, 2006, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Stringer on April 28, 1921, to Ava Ezra Fordand Minnie Howell Ford.

He retired after 35 years as an electrical engineer forBurroughs-Unisys Corp. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Mr. Ford had been a resident of Brookhaven for 46 years. He wasreared in Terry. He served in the Navy during World War II as aFirst Class storekeeper. He also served in the Naval Reserve. Hewas a member of the Kosiusko Lions Club, and was a Boy ScoutLeader. He served as president of the Mississippi Camper and HikersAssociation, and as state director for 13 years in the nationalassociation.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his two brothers,Robert Ford and Glaston Ford.

Survivors are his wife of 62.5 years, Eleanor Ford, ofBrookhaven; his son, Chris Howell Ford and his wife, Denise, ofCollierville, Tenn.; his daughter, Jean Thornhill, of Hattiesburg;his grandchildren, Chandler Nicole Ford, of Collierville, and KatieMarie Thornhill, of Hattiesburg; his nieces and nephews, SharionSmith and Dave Tucker, both of Florence, Karen Geist, of Hinsdall,Ill., Carol Ann Forbes, of Antioch, Ill, Gordy Sill, of Coloradoand Sonny Ford, of St. Charles, Mo.; his sisters-in-law, SylviaTucker, of Florence, and Dolores Blake, of Minnesota.
