Jeremy Byrd and Bradleigh Rice pumped in 16 points apiece inpowering the host West Lincoln Bears to a lopsided 92-55 Fridaynight win over the Enterprise Yellow Jackets in Division 7-1Abasketball action. Rice led off the backboards with 12 reboundsfollowed by Byrd with 2 steals and a steal.

In the girls game, Enterprise rallied for a 15-4 run in thefourth quarter to escape with a big 36-35 win over West Lincoln inJack Case Gymnasium. The Lady Jackets were powered by AlishaMason’s 24 points.

Tuesday night Dexter visits West Lincoln and Salem invadesEnterprise for more division action.

West Lincoln 92, Enterprise 55

In the boys game, West Lincoln came out shooting in the firstquarter with the Bears taking a decisive 34-18 lead. At halftime,West Lincoln commanded a 64-33 advantage over Enterprise.

“I like the speed we had in the first half,” said West Lincolncoach Lane Young. “That is the way we need to play.”

A 22-10 scoring spree in the third quarter pushed the Bears’lead to 86-43 going into the final frame.

The Bears improved to 10-3 on the season and 3-1 in divisionplay.

Adding support to the West Lincoln win with 11 points, 2rebounds, 2 steals and 5 assists was Shane Lynch. Jamey Byrdgrabbed 4 rebounds. Making 4 steals was Aaron Shaw.

Enterprise, coached by Josh Bass, was led by Chris Fuller with17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists. T.J. Sandiferfollowed with 13 points and 4 rebounds.

Enterprise 36, West Lincoln 35

The Lady Bears (7-6, 2-2) led the Lady Jackets 13-8 in the firstquarter, 18-15 at halftime and 31-21 going into the final framebefore Enterprise came back for the win.

With two minutes left to play, Enterprise (6-5, 2-1) tied thegame at 34-all. Erica Shaw nailed one of two free throws for abrief 35-34 lead with 7.1 seconds remaining. Mason took the ball,went down the court and scored a floater as time expired for thecomeback win.

“This was a great win for us on the road,” said Enterprise girlscoach Jill Nations. “My girls never quit playing hard. And ourrebounding was better in the second half.”

Mason was the game-high scorer with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4steals. Lindsey Everett led off the backboards with 11rebounds.

“If we could make our free throws, we could win the game,” saidYoung. “Mason made good shots at the end for the win. The game isnot over until the horn.”

The Lady Bears were a cold 9 of 23 from the charity stripe. TheLady Jackets were a little better, going 12 of 20.

Talashia Fells directed West Lincoln with 12 points and 12rebounds. Candy Herring pulled down 10 rebounds and had 2 steals.Collecting 5 rebounds and making 3 steals was April Kennedy.
