Franklin girls nip Natc hez in soccer

MEADVILLE – Led by senior Andrea Arnold, the Franklin CountyLady Soccer Dawgs produced an epic 1-0 victory against Natchez invarsity soccer action. Franklin resumes play tonight hostingdistrict rival Natchez Cathedral at 5, followed by the boys game at6:30.

“Our girls played hard and goalie Jennifer Thornton got us theshutout,” said Franklin County head coach Ben Yarbrough. “We have abig game tonight. We must win out and get a little help to reachthe playoffs.”

The Franklin girls are currently behind Cathedral and North Pikein the district standings.

“We have a lot of big games left,” added Yarbrough.

Thornton secured her sixth shutout of the season for the 10-5-1Lady Bulldogs. Arnold’s game winning goal came in the second half,off an assist from junior Caroline Yarbrough.
