Services for Hugh L. Boyte Sr., of Brookhaven, were 2 p.m.Sunday, Jan. 8 at Bethel Temple United Pentecostal Church withburial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in chargeof arrangements.

Mr. Boyte, 80, died Jan. 5, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist MedicalCenter in Jackson. He was born in Louisiana on Sept. 7, 1925, toTom E. Boyte and Lillie Hemphill Boyte.

He was a drilling superintendent with Engineers Laboratory, Inc.for more than 40 years. He was a member of Bethel Temple UnitedPentecostal Church. He was a member of the Navy during World WarII.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Eldon Ross”Butchie” Boyte Sr.; his brother, Wessie D. Boyte Sr.; his sister,Jessie L. Hilton; and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Hester.

Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Clara Adelle Boyte, ofBrookhaven; his sons, Hugh L. Boyte Jr. and Tommy E. Boyte, both ofBrookhaven; his daughters, Helen Louise Boyte Smith and her husbandMitchell, of Loyd Star, Wendy Star Boyte Furr, of Brookhaven,Jeannie Boyte Waldrop and her husband, Jesse, of Brookhaven, PennySue Boyte Moulder and her husband, Russell, of Brookhaven, andPatti Maranda Boyte, of Clinton; his brother, Tom E. Boyte Jr. andhis wife, Mary, of Brookhaven; his sister-in-law Lavada Boyte, ofBrookhaven; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host ofneices and nephews and cousins.
