BA teams split with Trinity

Seth Davis and Alan Gray pumped in 16 points apiece Saturday tolead the host Brookhaven Academy Cougars to a 72-53 District 4-AAwin over the Natchez Trinity Saints. Gray also made 4 steals andhad 5 assists.
In the varsity girls game, Trinity handed Brookhaven a 37-23defeat.
Following junior high tournament Monday-Friday, BrookhavenAcademy’s varsity resumes play Saturday, with Adams CountyChristian School visiting John R. Gray Gymnasium.
The Cougars improved to 25-1 overall and are undefeated indistrict play with a 12-0 record. The Lady Cougars fall to 21-10 onthe season and 8-4 in the district.
Brookhaven 72, Trinity 53
Coach Dale Watts’ Cougars got added support from KurtPerkins with 15 points and 4 assists. Collecting 11 points, 3rebounds, 4 steals and 5 assists was Jeremy Winborne. CoryDickerson pulled down 6 rebounds. T-Boy Lynch added 6 steals and 5assists.
Brookhaven jumped on Trinity for a 23-17 lead in thefirst quarter and pushed the advantage to 39-26 at thehalf.
Kris Ford paced Trinity with 12 points, followed byStevan Ridley with 11.
Trinity 37, Brookhaven 23
The Lady Cougars, coached by Barry Gray, trailed Trinity8-7 in the first quarter. Trinity exploded for a 17-5 run in thesecond quarter to take a 25-12 lead at the half.
Mallory Archer of Trinity led all scorers with 15points.
Pacing Brookhaven with 7 points each were Kellie Bradyand Drew Holland Tigner.
Junior high results
The Brookhaven girls (19-2, 11-1) knocked off Trinity48-38 play. Katie Beth Case directed the Lady Cougars with 14points. Jordan Langston finished with 11 points followed by KristinKimble with 10.
