Ole Brook girls get two victories over McComb

Night or day, the Brookhaven Lady Panthers displayed theirsoccer superiority. They defeated McComb’s Lady Tigers 4-0 Fridaynight in McComb’s C.C. Moore Stadium. On Saturday, they beat theMcComb girls 2-0 on muddy King Field.
The Panthers whipped McComb’s boys 4-1 Friday night but theTigers regrouped and got a 3-2 revenge win Saturday.
Brookhaven 4, McComb 0
In the girls game Ole Brook was led by midfielder HannahLowman’s 3 goals. Cary Anne Rake scored once for the Lady Pantherson a penalty kick.
Rake, Lowman and Terri Hodges each had an assist as Ole Brookled 2-0 at halftime. Goalkeeper Sabrina Delaughter made 5saves.
Brookhaven 4, McComb 1
Leading the Panthers with one goal apiece were NasonStephens, Chase Covington, Jonathan Davey and Will Thibodeaux.Stuart Abel scored for the Tigers.
Providing a BHS assist was Patrick Ayers who made across pass to Covington who scored on a header. Stephens scored ona direct kick outside the box. Aaron Ayers also made anassist.
Goalkeeper Grant Nations made 5 saves for Ole Brook.Nations was subbing for Wesley McSorley who sustained a broken shinbone Tuesday night against Florence.

Hodges and Lowman scored for Ole Brook. Delaughter made4 saves.
McComb’s keeper made 19 saves.
The Lady Panthers are 9-10 overall and 4-4 in divisionplay.
McComb 3, Brookhaven 2
The Tigers scored twice in the first half. With 5minutes left in the first half, the Panthers netted 2 goals asDavey and Nate Lias found the net.
After a 2-2 halftime deadlock, McComb scored the winnerlate in the second half.
“We just couldn’t catch back up,” said Ole Brook coachKevin Bower. “McComb was looking for revenge and we didn’t playreal well on defense in the first half.”
Nations made 13 saves in Saturday’s game. McComb’sgoalie had 16 saves.
The Panthers stand at 9-8-4 overall and 3-5 in thedistrict.
Ole Brook entertains Lawrence County Tuesday, startingat 5:30 with the girls game. The varsity boys play at7.
Florence and Terry have locked up the top two positionsin the Division 6-4A race and have qualified for the stateplayoffs.
