Edward Allred

Services for Edward Allred, of Bogue Chitto, were 3 p.m.Saturday, Jan. 28, at Community Funeral Services Chapel with burialin Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Allred, 77, died Jan. 25, 2006, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born on Nov. 1, 1928, to Clarence Allred and TrudyWallace Allred.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters.

Survivors are his brother, Clyde Allred, and his sister,Katherine Etheridge, both of Brookhaven.

George Ralph Bessonette

Graveside services for George Ralph Bessonette, of Collins, are3:30 p.m. today, Jan. 29 at Easthaven Baptist Church Cemetery.Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bessonette, 82, died Jan. 26, 2006, at V. A. Nursing Home inCollins. He was born in Brookhaven on May 28, 1923, to George EllisBessonette and Mamie Jordan Bessonette.

He was a retired dispatcher for Brookhaven Police Department, asecurity guard, and worked for Army Intelligence for 22 years. Hewas a veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW, AmericanLegion, NRA and Sons of the Confederate Soldier.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sisters, RuthKahl and Jackie Ford.

Survivors are his nephews, Harold Kahl and Reuben Kahl, both ofHattiesburg; and his nieces, Sophia White, of Oklahoma City, Okla.,Mary Letchworth, of Columbia, and Melissa Mitchell, of Cumming,Ga.

Arlene Rae Crittenden

Graveside services for Arlene Rae Crittenden, of Brookhaven, are2 p.m. today, Jan. 29 at McKennon Crittenden Cemetery. BrookhavenFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Crittenden, 74, died Jan. 27, 2006, at her residence. Shewas born on March 4, 1931, to George Paul Rogers and Ethel MildredSmith Rogers.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband JohnClifton Crittenden.

Survivors are her sons, John Dwight Crittenden, of Gulfport,James Clifton Crittenden, M. D., of Kiln, Michael Wayne Crittenden,of Greenville, Phillip Ray Crittenden, of Brookhaven, and DavidCarl Crittenden, D. M. D., of Kiln; her daughter, Teresa Freeman,of Brookhaven; her sister, June D. Thompson, of Greenville; and ahost of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James T. Franklin Jr.

Services for James T. Franklin Jr., of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial in NewProspect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 5 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Franklin, 79, died Jan. 27, 2006, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born in Lincoln County on Oct. 18, 1926, toJames Thomas Franklin and Ruth Laird Franklin.

He was retired from the Texas Highway Department of Austin,Texas. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, EthelHarris, Edith Dickerson, Donnis Gardner, Margaret Landry and VeraVickery.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Ellis Franklin, of Brookhaven;his brother, Vollie Franklin, of Brookhaven; his sister, EmmaBreaux, Paula Walker and Bertille Johnson, all of Brookhaven; and ahost of nieces and nephews.

Cecil Lee Hanshew

Services for Cecil Lee Hanshew, of Orlando, Fla., are 11 a.m.Monday, Jan. 30 at Community Funeral Services with burial in FairRiver Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 9 a.m. until services at the funeralhome.

Mr. Hanshew, 83, died Jan. 23, 2006, in Orlando, Fla. He wasborn on July 20, 1922, to Henry Hanshew and Maude MooreHanshew.

He was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of theNavy during World War II.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Martha Hanshew, of Orlando, Fla.; hissons, Dan Hanshew and Tony Hanshew, both of Winter Park, Fla., andRick Hanshew, of Apopka, Fla.; his daughter, Linda Gallagher, ofColorado; his step sons, Russvell DeBord, of Ohio, and BradleyDeBord, of Orlando, Fla.; his step daughters, Theresa Paige andDarla Wright, of Orlando, Fla., and Deborah Thomas, of Indiana; hisbrother, Arthur Hanshew, of California; his sister, Violet Evans,of Montana; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Betty Lou Newton Johnson

Services for Betty Lou Newton Johnson, of Monticello, are 2 p.m.today, Jan. 29 at Wilson Funeral home with burial in New HopeBaptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson, 64, died Jan. 26, 2006, at Southwest RegionalMedical Center. She was born on July 31, 1941, to Edward Newton andGladys Wilson.

She was a store manager, clerk and homemaker. She was a memberof Mt. Moriah in Boston, Ky.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, JohnnyWatson; and her sister, Junita Vittoe.

Survivors are her husband, Harvey Eugene Johnson, of Monticello;her sons, Terry Johnson, of Monticello, Jerry Johnson, of Boston,Ky., and Scott Johnson, of Monticello; her daughters, Nina Hill,Jenny Davis and Toni Craft, all of Monticello; her brothers, SammyNewton, of Ratcliff, Ky., and Robert Watson, of Elizabeth, Ky.; hissisters, Joann Thompson, of Bardstown, Ky., Gladys Ray Clark, ofKentucky, and Lillian Harrold, of Kentucky; her 15 grandchildren;and her 12 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy N. Miller

Services for Dorothy N. Miller, of Ridgeland, are 11 a.m.Monday, Jan. 30 at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial in RosehillCemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 10 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Miller, 93, died Jan. 26, 2006, at Baptist Hospital inJackson. She was born in Brookhaven on July 2, 1912, to J. W. Nauland Annie Whittington Naul.

She was a retired selective service officer. She was a member ofTrace Ridge Baptist Church, in Ridgeland.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, JuliusNaul and Leonard Naul; and her sister, Lea Farmer.

Survivors are her husband, Mr. G. T. Miller, of Ridgeland; hercousin J. W. Naul Jr., of Dalla, Texas; a host of nieces andnephews; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Rebecca Ann Reed

Services for Rebecca Ann Reed, of Lafayette, La., were 2 p.m.Tuesday, Jan. 31 at La Chapelle De Martin and Castille Funeral Homewith burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Ms. Reed, 31, died Jan. 27, 2006, at her residence. She was bornto Monty Reed and Diane Magee Reed.

She was a licensed pracitical nurse.

A native of Columbus and resident of Lafayette for most of herlife, Rebecca was a loving daughter, granddaughter and friend toeveryone who knew her. She had a passion for helping people, andloved working with Hospice patients. She enjoyed listening to musicand spending time with her friends and extended family with whomshe loved. Rebecca will be sorely missed, not only by her friendsand family, but by all of those whose lives she has touchedthroughout the years.

Preceding her in death were her maternal grandfather, ClintonWooten; and her paternal grandfather, William C. Reed.

Survivors are her parents; her friend and life partner, AnneSahuc; her pet cat, Bacchus “the Easter Bunny”; her Godchild, KolbyConnolly; her aunt Betty Reed and Uncle Mike; her paternalgrandmother, Martha Smith; and her maternal grandmother, MaryFrances Wooten.
