Itawamba trips Co-Lin

SENATOBIA — Dell Coleman tossed in 23 points and the ItawambaIndians rallied to beat Co-Lin 57-50 Monday in the opening round ofthe MACJC State Basketball Tournament. Larricus Brown added 14points for the Indians who advance to Wednesday’s semifinals andplay Northwest.

In other men’s tournament action yesterday, Pearl River beatCoahoma 86-71, Holmes defeated Gulf Coast 104-96 and Northwest beatEast Central 97-85 in overtime. Pearl River plays Holmes in theother semifinals men’s game.

Four women’s games are on tap today. South No. 1 seed Co-Linplays Delta at 3 p.m., Holmes meets Meridian at 1, Northeast playsGulf Coast at 5 and East Central faces Northwest at 7.

The Co-Lin Wolves (15-8), coached by Dennis Sims, got 15 pointsfrom Joe Holliday, and 10 apiece from Jemario Martin and TremaineEnoch. Co-Lin, the South Division runner-up, will participate inthe NJCAA Region 23 Tournament at Mississippi College nextweek.
