A Tuesday car chase resulted in one arrest and the recovery ofweapons and electronics believed to have been stolen, said LincolnCounty Sheriff Wiley Calcote.
The chase began when deputies attempted to stop George Hudson,of 591 Charlie Lane. Deputy Kevin Cartwright, of the Lincoln CountySheriff’s Department, said the arrest was part of an ongoinginvestigation.
“We had intelligence that (Hudson) was going to be in the area,”Cartwright said.
The investigation led deputies and agents with the SouthwestMississippi Narcotics Bureau to believe Hudson was involved in thedistribution of narcotics. After spotting Hudson’s white Fordpickup, Cartwright attempted to pull Hudson over.
“When we turned on the blue lights, he gunned it,” saidCartwright.
Cartwright pursued Hudson’s vehicle from the North HavenApartments into the parking lot of Foster’s Soup And Crackers onUnion Street Extension. Hudson drove in between a building and adumpster and then down an embankment into the parking lot ofErnie’s Diner.
Hudson, 50, reportedly abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.He jumped over a fence before deputies overtook him.
According to Cartwright, Hudson discarded a package of narcoticswhile deputies pursued him on foot. The package included 7 oz. ofcrack cocaine and five pills of ecstacy.
Shortly after 3 p.m., Hudson was arrested and charged withpossession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, failure to yield to blue lights, cocaine possession, and resistingarrest.
Cartwright said there was enough probable cause to obtain asearch warrant on Hudson’s home. Calcote said authorites believethe items found had been stolen in order to exchange them fornarcotics.
“We found a lot of cocaine residue,” Calcote said of Hudson’shome. “We found all kinds of equipment, televisions, several gunsand other items that were possibly stolen.”
