Rev. Edwin ‘Eddie’ King

Services for the Rev. Edwin “Eddie” King, of Summit, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, March 14, at Central Baptist Church in McComb with burialin Felder’s Campground Cemetery. Catchings Funeral Home is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, and onTuesday from noon until the time of the service at the church.

The Rev. King, 82, died March 12, 2006, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center. He was born in Poplarville on Dec. 10,1923, to John Perry King and Nora Bullock King.

He was called into the ministry in 1945 and served as pastor,minister of music and minister of education until his retirement in2003. He was also a retired piano technician. He was a U.S. Armyveteran of World War II, having served in the 82nd Airborne. He wasa member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Summit.

His education included Southwest Mississippi Junior Collegewhere he played football; Southeastern Louisiana University inHammond, where he began his piano tuning career; special work atLouisiana State University and attendance at the New OrleansBaptist Theological Seminary. He was a Boy Scout Master, an avidhunter, fisherman and gardener. His favorite pastime was making andgiving away homemade jellies.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers and fivesisters.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Edna Martin King, of Summit;his sons, Tim King, of Summit, and Terry King, of Ocean Springs;his daughters, Edwina Wills, of Hattiesburg, Patricia Bauer, ofBaton Rouge, La., and Mona Whitworth, of Acworth, Ga.; his sister,Katie Holden of Peoria; his 13 grandchildren, fivegreat-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to The International Mission Board for theSouthern Baptist Convention and may be made through your localSouthern Baptist Church. Other memorials may be made to GideonInternational or Mississippi Baptist Children’s Home.

Rose Mary Lillian Hendricks Blair Prewitt

Services for Rose Mary Prewitt, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, March 14, at Friendship Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Community Funeral Services is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from 10a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Prewitt, 78, died March 11, 2006, at Southwest GeneralHospital in McComb. She was born in Drumright, Okla., on Nov. 7,1927, to Burt Hendricks and Betty Houston Hendricks.

She was a devoted mother who instilled in her daughters theimportance of family. She was retired, having worked as manager ofseveral retail stores in Brookhaven. She accepted Christ at anearly age and was baptized by her Uncle Gene. She also rededicatedher life to Christ when her nephew, the Rev. Larry Hendricks, spokeas a missionary at Friendship Baptist Church. She was an asset instarting the Women of the Moose Chapter in Brookhaven and hadserved in many offices of that chapter until her health kept herfrom doing so.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband,Wilbur Lee Blair; her infant daughter, Betty Mae Blair; herbrother, Burt Hendricks; and a stepgrandson, Hank Mercier.

Survivors are her five daughters and their husbands, Rosie andFrank Mercier, Sharon and Mack Lambert, and Toni and Gene Newell,all of Brookhaven, Alice and Roy Allen of Tomball, Texas, and Donnaand Robert Cupit of Bogue Chitto; her ex-husband, Bill Prewitt, ofBrookhaven; four brothers and their wives, Art Hendricks and Boband Fairy Hendricks, all of Monroe, La., Doyle and Ginny Hendricksof Hendersonville, Tenn., and Jimmy and Marsha Hendricks, ofBaytown, Texas; four sisters and their husbands, Ramona Holland ofBaytown, Vivian and Jerry Woods, of Taft, Calif., Sandy Stewart ofBakersfield, Calif., and Frances and Richard Byron, of San Antonio,Texas.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Debbie Morris, BrianBreland, Scooter Watson, Roy “Jabo” Allen, Sissy Williams, SheliRohmann, Mack Lambert Jr., Malena Britt, Sam Lambert, Angie Jasper,Tommy Prather Jr., Christy Martinez, Courtney Cupit, MelissaNewell, Jennifer Newell, Abbie Newell and Kerri Newell; threestepgrandchildren, Debbie Mercier, Frank Mercier and Dena Mercier;30 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a host ofclose nephews and nieces.

Freddie Farnham Raney

Services for Freddie Farnham Raney, of Byram, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, March 14, at Stringer Family Chapel with burial inHazlehurst Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Raney, 72, died March 10, 2006, at Willow Creek RetirementCenter in Byram. She was born in Copiah County and lived there mostof her life.

She was a Jehovah’s Witness. She enjoyed music and loved towrite poetry. She loved people.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 35 years, MelvinFarnham; her son, Ernest Melvin Farnham; a brother; and mostrecently, her husband, Robert Raney.

Survivors are her sons, Joe M. Farnham Jr. and Sean C. Farnham,both of Madison; her daughters, Deborah F. Fallin, of Brandon, andVictoria Fitzpatrick, of Brookhaven; her sisters, Sarah Deines, ofSeattle, Wash., and Martha Baskin, of Brookhaven; her 12grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
