Lady Bears pound Cathedral

The host West Lincoln Lady Bears handed the Natchez CathedralGreen Wave a 13-0 beating in girls district fastpitch varsitysoftball action Thursday night.
“It’s good to get the win,” said West Lincoln softball coachAndrew Redd.
Heather Huff posted the win with three strikeouts and no walks.Brandi McGraw walked six with no strikeouts.
Powering the Lady Bears with a double and a single each wereHolli Smith and Britnee Smith. Hannah Knouse and Kacey Smith eachsingled twice. Keri Easley, Ashley McCaffrey and Huff singled.
“We are a young team and struggling,” said Cathedral coach GaryBlackwell. “We made too many errors on defense. After we settleddown, we played well defensively. Brandi pitched well.”
Cathedral (2-5, 0-2) got a single each from Betsy Daggett andAnna Huffines.
West Lincoln (8-2, 3-0) hosts archrival Bogue Chitto Saturday atnoon and 1 p.m.
Junior Varsity results
West Lincoln clipped Cathedral 6-1 in JV action. Kacey Smithfanned 11 batters and walked none for the win. Elizabeth Blackwellstruck out three and walked three in the loss.
The Lady Bears were powered by Knouse with a home run. Doublingwas Stephanie Smith. Singling were Alexis Cooks, Katie Mullins andKarli Herrington.
Cathedral got a single from Daggett and Blackwell.
