WESSON — The Co-Lin Wolfpack baseball team split a doubleheaderwith St. Charles of Missouri Friday night at Sullivan Field. TheWolves dropped the first game to St. Charles 9-4 but came back towin the finale 8-3.

The Wolves are 14-7 on the season and St. Charles is 9-7.

Co-Lin returns to Sullivan Field Monday to host Onadaga of NewJersey for a twinbill, beginning at 2 p.m.

Tuesday, Co-Lin plays its first South Division doubleheader ofthe season at Poplarville when the Wolves take on the Pearl RiverWildcats.

St. Charles 9, Co-Lin 1

In the first game, St. Charles went up on Co-Lin 4-2 in thefirst inning. At the end of the third, the visitors had pushedtheir lead to 7-3. In the final three innings, St. Charlesoutscored Co-Lin 2-1 to preserve the win.

“We had a hard time getting them out,” said Co-Lin head baseballcoach Keith Case. “They scored four runs right off the top. Thenscored three more in the fourth. We competed. We swung thebats.

“We didn’t put the hits together,” continued Case. “Oursituational offense was not good in the game.”

Justin Rasor (2-0) posted the win with 4 runs allowed on 8 hits.Working the final two innings was Darren Blang.

Absorbing the loss was Brett Hartfield (1-1) with 7 runs allowedon 8 hits, 2 strikeouts and 2 walks. Working the fourth inning onwas Kyle Fairley with 2 runs allowed on 6 hits, 2 strikeouts and 2walks.

The leading hitters for the Wolves were Josh Logan, Josh Hurt,Xavier Qualls and Garrett Jones with two singles apiece. Hittingsafely were Ryan Williams, Todd Siders and Cole Hodges.

Blaine Boss got a triple and two singles for St. Charles. SteveCarter doubled and singled for 3 RBI.

Co-Lin 8, St. Charles 3

“I thought situationally we were able to move our runners,”stated Case. “We were able to do that.”

After trailing St. Charles 1-0 in the first inning, the Wolfpackcollect three runs in the bottom of the second for a 3-1 lead. Thevisitors answered with two runs in the top of the third to tie thegame at 3-all. Co-Lin went up 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth thenadded four more runs in the sixth to secure the win.

James Landry (1-0) got the win in relief of Nick Gunter. Gunterworked the first four innings with 2 strikeouts, 3 walks, and 3runs allowed on 5 hits. Landry finished with 5 strikeouts, no walksand 4 hits allowed.

“Nick gave us a chance with four innings,” said Case. “Jamescame on and played extremely well.”

At the plate, Williams powered the Wolfpack bats with a 2-runhome run. Qualls followed with a double and a single for 3 RBI.Jeremy Boler and Logan singled.

Homering for St. Charles was Carlos Suarz. Aaron Cummins singledthree times for 3 RBI. Singling twice was Trey Keene.
