BC girls roll over Lady Cobras

BOGUE CHITTO — Dori Hall ripped two triples and a single tolead the Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats to an 11-3 win over the WessonLady Cobras Monday night in fastpitch softball action.

Bogue Chitto improved to 6-7 on the season and remains 2-1 indivision action. Wesson falls to 3-9 overall and is 1-1 in divisionplay.

The Lady ‘Cats outhit the Lady Cobras 13-6. Wesson committed 3errors to Bogue Chitto’s 2.

Meleah Brown struck out 8 batters and walked 1 for the win.Stacy Lowery fanned 4 and struck out 2 in the loss.

“We needed a win,” said Bogue Chitto coach Scott Leggett. “Wehit the ball better, but we still are not satisfied.”

Bogue Chitto invades Wesson Friday night. The junior varsitygame begins at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity at 6.

The Lady ‘Cats led 2-0 after the first inning and pushed theirlead to 4-1 after 4 innings. In the final 2 innings, Bogue Chittowent on a 7-2 run to secure the win.

Shaquille Burton tripled and singled for the Lady ‘Cats. CandaceAvants, Kelli Howard and Brown drilled 2 singles apiece. DevonWelch and Jessie Miller hit safely.

“We did a poor job executing on defense,” said Wesson coachRicky Gunter. “Bogue Chitto has a good pitcher and she did a goodjob keeping us off balance. But we did do a good job hitting andgetting on base.”

Bethany Dykes paced Wesson with a pair of singles. SummerEasterling, Nikki McCardle, Monica Garcia and Lowery singled.

Junior varsity results

Bogue Chitto hammered Wesson 15-4. Toy Smith earned the win with1 strikeout and 10 walks. Jessica Haynes had no strikeouts andwalked 8 batters.

Josie Porter tripled for the Lady ‘Cats. Mikki Mitchell doubled.Singling twice was Holli Miller. Singling were Hannah Holmes andBurton.

Leading Wesson with a single each were Dallas Jackson and AshtonPrice.
