A McCall Creek man was killed Monday in Copiah County when hisvehicle left Interstate 55 and struck a tree, authorities said.

Luther Z. Thomas, 63, was killed in a single-car accident abouttwo miles north the county line around 9:30 p.m., said LincolnCounty Assistant Coroner R.E. Tyler. He was pronounced dead at thescene at 10:35 p.m.

“He went off the interstate to the left and hit a tree,” Tylersaid. “It threw him out of the car.”

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the MississippiHighway Safety Patrol, but no foul play is expected, Tylersaid.
