WESSON — Sophomore leftfielder J.P. Moreaux had a field day forPearl River Community College, directing the Wildcats to a SouthDivision sweep of the Co-Lin Wolfpack. Moreaux slugged 2 home runsin Pearl River’s 13-1 opener Saturday. He also hit a triple and asingle, going 4-for-4 with 6 RBIs.

In the nightcap, Moreaux continued his left-handed assault onCo-Lin pitching. He doubled twice and homered in PRCC’s 14-10triumph.

“We threw to their bats,” said Co-Lin head coach Keith Case. “Itwas one of those days when we couldn’t get them out. We have tokeep playing hard and enjoy the game.”

Co-Lin fell to 19-16 overall and 3-7 in the South Division.Ranked No. 1 nationally, Pearl River climbed to 31-9 overall and5-5 in the South.

The Wolfpack visits Mississippi Delta at Moorhead Tuesday for a1 p.m. doubleheader.

Third baseman Chris Stewart had 3 hits for the Wildcats.

Co-Lin was led by Xavier Qualls who doubled. Shortstop JoshLogan, designated hitter Joel Hurt and leftfielder Cole Hodges had2 hits apiece.

Winning pitcher Keith Stevens gave up 8 hits. He walked 3 andfanned 2.

“We made three errors and gave up three unearned runs in thefirst inning,” said Case. “We gave them some confidence.”

Freshman Brandon Chretien started on the mound for Co-Lin andabsorbed the loss. He was replaced by Adam Cook and Brett Hartfieldin the fourth.

Pearl River 14, Co-Lin 10

Centerfielder Grant Hogue went 4-for-4 in Pearl River’s nightcapwin. Chris Stewart collected 5 RBIs.

Three hits apiece by centerfielder Ryan Williams and firstbaseman Joel Hurt led Co-Lin’s offensive.

Barron Short was the winning pitcher, with sixth-inning reliefhelp from Barron Hodge. Short gave up 10 hits and 10 runs. Hewalked none and fanned 1.

Derek Thompson (4-4) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 7 hitsand 7 runs, struck out 1 batter and walked none.

Co-Lin took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the first but theWildcats responded with a 5-run second inning.
