Panthers sweep Port Gibson

The Brookhaven Panthers concluded their 18-game Division 6-4Aschedule Monday night at Moyer Field. In a pair of make-up games,Ole Brook smashed the Port Gibson Blue Wave 15-3 and 11-1 in 5 and3 innings respectively.

Brookhaven, coached by Randy Spring, improves to 21-5 overall.The Panthers will host Wesson Thursday and close out the regularseason hosting South Pike next Monday.

Ole Brook (20-5), winners of 20 games in 6 of the last 8 years,fostered 11 runs in the opening innings.

The Blue Wave managed 3 unearned runs in the fourth, from ArthurBrandon, Demetrius Gibson and Nate Jones.

Spring’s ballclub got run support from Garion Crockett (3),Elliot Warren (2), Zach Watson (2), Mitch Pappas (2), Marlon Dixon(2), Paxton King, Cole Newell, Josh Coone and Brandt Hinton.

Hitting safely were Warren, Hinton and Coone. Doubles wereissued by Warren, King and T.J. Qualls. Hinton tripled.

Coone got the win for Brookhaven on a 2-hitter, with 1 walk and9 strikeouts. Nate Jones suffered the loss for the Blue Wave.

Brookhaven 11, Port Gibson 1

Ole Brook (21-5) had only 5 hits in the game. Warren had 2triples. Singles were hit by Pappas and Hinton. Dixon doubled.

Port Gibson got a single from Justin Longmire. Jopravius Hydesdoubled. Nick Hutchinson scored for Port Gibson.

Newell got the win, while Gibson suffered the loss for the BlueWave.
