ELLISVILLE — The Co-Lin Lady Wolves fastpitch softball teamswept a South Division doubleheader Wednesday from the Jones CountyLady Bobcats in the final games of the regular season.

The Lady Wolves won the opener 6-4 and the finale 4-2 in eightinnings. The losses eliminated the Lady Bobcats from the stateplayoffs.

Co-Lin (31-7) is the South Division champ and will host the MACJCState Tournament on Friday-Sunday, May 5-7.

“I give our girls credit for playing hard in 2 games that had nomeaning for us in the playoffs,” said Co-Lin head fastpitch coachAllen Kent. It’s good to go into the tournament on a positivenote.”

Co-Lin 6, Jones Co. 4

Erin Douglass was the winning pitcherwith 8 hits allowed, no strikeouts and 5 walks. Leanna Sullivanabsorbed the loss.

“We played great defense behind Erin,” said Kent. “She didn’t haveher best outing today, but she hung in there and gutted itout.”

The Lady Wolves scored in the second inning for a 1-0 lead on asingle and error by Kady King. Lauren Smith reached base on anerror and King scored.

In the fourth, Annie Selman singled then stole second and thirdbase. Douglass singled home Selman. King singled and Smith was hitby a pitch. Allyson Wallace fly ball to centerfield was misplayed,allowing 2 runs to score. Wallace scored the other run on a passedball for a 5-0 lead.

Fifth-inning action saw Selman get her second hit of the game andstole second again. Douglass singled for his second hit and JackieStowe hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score the sixth runand a 6-2 lead.

Co-Lin 4, Jones Co. 2

In the second game, the Lady Bobcats wentup 2-0 in the first inning. The Lady Wolves came back in the thirdto cut the deficit to 2-1 when Megan Bateman hit an RBI single toscore Holly Pyles.

Sixth-inning action saw Co-Lin come back and tie the game 2-all.Stowe singled and stole second. With two outs, Smith singled tocenter to score Stowe.

With the score tied-2 all at the end of seven inning, theinternational tiebreaker rule went into effect in the eighth.Co-Lin’s Kaylin Burke was inserted as a pinch runner for Douglassat second base to start the inning. Stowe smacked the first pitchdown right field line for a double and an RBI for a 3-2 lead. Withtwo outs, Wallace hit a line drive off the top of the fence incenter to score Stowe for the 4-2 lead and win.

“We left 12 runners on base and committed 3 errors, but stillmanaged a win,” said Kent. “We didn’t do a very good job of movingrunners over when needed to either. We need to be more productivewith runners in scoring position.”

Stowe was the starter for the Lady Wolves and was replaced by EmilyHorne in the fifth inning for the win.

On the mound, Stowe went 4 1/3 innings with 8 hits allowed, 3strikeouts and 2 walk. Horne worked 3 2/3 innings with 7strikeouts, 1 hit and 1 hit batter.

At the plate, Stowe went 3-for-4, scoring twice with an RBI. AmberBeeson and Douglass each singled twice. Singling were Selman andBateman.
