Police investigate Friday stabbing

Police are investigating a weekend stabbing involving twoteenagers during a party in downtown Brookhaven.

Chief Pap Henderson said officers were called to the train depotat 11:13 p.m. Friday following the altercation in which a17-year-old boy was stabbed three times by a 13-year-old boy. Thechief was unable to release the juveniles’ names.

“I think it was basically from some shoving and some licks thatwere passed,” Henderson said about a reason for thealtercation.

Henderson said the older teen was taken to King’s DaughtersMedical Center, where he was kept overnight and released Saturday.”It wasn’t life-threatening,” Henderson said about the teen’sinjuries.

The teen came to the police department Saturday to give astatement to authorities.

The 13-year-old boy was charged with aggravated assault. He wasreleased to his parents.

“It was an unfortunate incident that happened,” Henderson said.”We have to work it like everything else.”
