Services for Myra Maurine Cole, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, June 13, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inWesson Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mrs. Cole, 90, died June 9, 2006, at Haven hall Nursing Home.She was born in Brookhaven on Feb. 1, 1916, to William CurtisThurman and Minnie Mae Hutson Thurman.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Central BaptistChurch.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Leland L.Cole; and her brothers, Shelton Thurman, Melton Thurman, CurtisWade Thurman, and Charles Larry Thurman.
Survivors are her sons, Larry E. Cole, of Las Vegas, William F.Cole, of Fountain Fla., and Michael G. Cole, of Hammond, La.; sixgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Betty J. McCullough
Services for Betty J. McCullough, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m.Monday, June 12, at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel with burial inMcComb. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is today from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. McCullough, 74, died June 10, 2006, in Jefferson County.She was born in Pike County on July 6, 1931, to W.L. May and VeryNewton May.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Macedonia BaptistChurch.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, and asister.
Survivors are her sons, Rickey Ezell and his wife, Betty Sue, ofMcNair, Dennis Ezell and his wife, Melissa, and Billy Ezell, bothof McComb; her daughter, Cathy Royer and her husband, Calvin, ofJennings, La.; her brother, Jerrry May, of Jackson; her sister,Shirley Alexander, of Abondale, La.; 12 grandchildren; and 11great-grandchildren.
Launa Newsome Lowe
Launa Newsome Lowe, 86, died June 9, 2006 at her home nearMonticello. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, June11, 2006, at the Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello. Services willbe at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Monticello Baptist Church withburial in the Lowe Cemetery.
She was born on Oct. 13, 1919, in New Hebron to Estus ColonNewsome and Naomi Culpepper Newsome. She was a graduate of NewHebron High School and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. She was amember of Monticello Baptist Church and has been a resident of theMonticello area for 66 years. She came to Monticello to work as asecretary to the county superintendant of education, then later assecretary to the county agent. She retired in May 1985 from DepositGuaranty Bank of Monticello as branch officer after 31 years ofservice.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53years, Walter Bernice Lowe; her son, Frank Joel Lowes; and twobrothers, Herman C. “Buck” Newsome and E.C. Newsome.
Survivors are her three sons, Jimmy Lowe and his wife, Barbara,Philip Lowe and his wife, Linda, and Charles Lowe and his wife,Debbie; one daughter, Melinda Lowe Farthing and her husband, Nick;her daughter-in-law, Becky Lowe; two sisters, Marguerite Rutledgeand Damie Newsome Ready; one sister-in-law, Sis Lowe Witters; 11grandchildren, Melissa Bender, Sallie Stevens, Billy Lowe, RyanFarthing, Lindsey Lowe, Jacob Lowe, Erin Lowe and Charlie Lowe; sixgreat-grandchildren, Walt Lowe, Lane Lowe, Madeleine Bender, MathewBender, Samuel Stevens and Edens Richardson; and many loving niecesand nephews and great nieces and nephews.
