Helen Lucille Brumfield Hartfield

Services for Helen Lucille Brumfield Hartfield, of Natchez, were11 a.m. today, June 21, at First Baptist Church in Natchez withburial in Natchez City Cemetery. Laird Funeral Home was in chargeof arrangements.

Mrs. Hartfield, 86, died June 19, 2006, at her residence. Shewas born on March 6, 1920, to Clifton Grady Brumfield and SusieClote Brown Brumfield.

She was a resident of Natchez since 1948, and a graduate ofCopiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, and the University ofSouthern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. She was a retired schoolteacher and taught more than 30 years in the Amite County PublicSchools, Cathedral School and Adams County Public Schools. In 1968she was selected STAR Teacher for the Natchez School System .

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church for 58years, where she taught Sunday school, Training Union and VacationBible School. She was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, PhilipHoward “Bud” Hartfield; and her niece, Vickie Joy Brumfield.

Survivors are her daughters, Susan H. (Butch) Hewitt, ofNatchez, and Philis H. (Greg) Hoggatt, of Raymond; hergrandchildren, Melissa H. (Dana) Emberson, of Los Angeles, Calif.,Charles Marcus Hewitt, of South Riding, Va., Lou H. (Grant)Stapleton, of Byram, and Philip G. (Katie) Hoggatt, of Madison; hergreat-grandchildren, Ailee Elizabeth Stapleton and Grant “Buster”Wayne Stapleton, of Byram; her brothers, Clifton Gordon (Aileen)Brumfield and Hyland Wesley Brumfield, of Bogue Chitto; herbrother-in-law, Hack M. (Coleen) Hartfield, of Baton Rouge, La.;her three nieces, three nephews, four great-nieces and fivegreat-nephews.

Pallbearers were Marcus Hewitt, Philip Hoggatt, Bobby Cowart,Mike Ellard, Sam Gwin, Gary Holloway, D.D. Smith, Charles Stephens,Raiford Strong and Johnny Waycaster. Honorary pallbearers includeall students taught by Mrs. Hartfield.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Youth Fund inNatchez.

Holt David Landry

Holt Davis Landry, the infant son of Jonathan Paul Landry andLauren Peavey Landry, of Lafayette, La., died June 13, 2006. Afamily memorial service is planned for a later date.

Survivors are his grandparents, Tucker and Leah Ann Peavey, ofBrookhaven, and Norris and Donna Landry, of Hessmer, La.; hisgreat-grandparents, Billy and Virginia Peavey, of Brookhaven, andEd and Frances Holtslander, of Natchez; and a host of aunts, unclesand cousins.
