Services for James G. Whitten, of Batesville, are 11 a.m.Monday, July 17, at Wells Funeral Home, in Bateville, with burialin Shiloh Cemetery in Courtland.

Visitation is today from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Whitten, 75, died July 13, 2006, at North MississippiMedical Center in Tupelo. He was born in Panola County on December29, 1930, to James Bedford “Buster” Whitten and Gertrude JamesWhitten.

He was retired from Memphis Stone and Gravel. He was a veteranof the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors are his wife, Clara Kenedy Whitten, of Batesville; hissons, Robert “Bob” Kennedy Whitten, of Courtland, and James “Jim”Whitten Jr., of Batesville; his daughters, Nancy Whitten Cantrell,of Vernon, Ala., and Terry Whitten, of Brookhaven; his sister,Martha Whitten Cook, of Batesville; five grandchildren; and onegreat-grandson.
