Marco Culver

Services for Marco Culver, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Tuesday,July 18, at St. Mark M.B. Church with burial in Mt. Zion ChurchCemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Culver, 77, died July 13, 2006, at Kings Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on September 1, 1928, toDennis Powell and Louise Powell.

He was retired.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, WilmerCulver; and his daughter, Rose Culver.

Survivors are his sons, John Sutton, of Macon, Ga., SylvesterSelmon, William Selmon, James Jordon, all of Brookhaven, ArthurSutton, of Montgomery, Ala., and Lester Sutton, of Springfield,Mass.; his daughters, Nakisha Culver Bryant, of Columbus, Ohio,Famika Culver, Edna Wilcher and Carrie Sidney, all of Brookhaven;his brothers, Hollis Powell and Israel Culver, both of Brookhaven;his sisters, Alberta Patterson, Jessie Mae Scott, Mary Lyons, InezKelly, all of Brookhaven, Dora Montgomery, of Chicago, Ill., andMarie Hilson, of Champagne, Ill.; his special and devoted friend,Blanchie Selmon, of Brookhaven; 23 grandchildren; 19great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relativesand friends.

James G. Whitten

Services for James G. Whitten, of Batesville, are 11 a.m.Monday, July 17, at Wells Funeral Home, in Bateville, with burialin Shiloh Cemetery in Courtland.

Visitation is today from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Whitten, 75, died July 13, 2006, at North MississippiMedical Center in Tupelo. He was born in Panola County on December29, 1930, to James Bedford “Buster” Whitten and Gertrude JamesWhitten.

He was retired from Memphis Stone and Gravel. He was a veteranof the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors are his wife, Clara Kenedy Whitten, of Batesville; hissons, Robert “Bob” Kennedy Whitten, of Courtland, and James “Jim”Whitten Jr., of Batesville; his daughters, Nancy Whitten Cantrell,of Vernon, Ala., and Terry Whitten, of Brookhaven; his sister,Martha Whitten Cook, of Batesville; five grandchildren; and onegreat-grandson.
