A memorial service for Evelyn Foster, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Thursday, July 20, in the chapel of Brookhaven Funeral Home withburial in Little Bahala Cemetery in Lincoln County. Dr. TommyMiddleton will officiate.

Visitation is today from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Foster, 86, died July 18, 2006, at Beverly Healthcare. Shewas born in Poplarville on Feb. 9, 1920, to Charles Gorenflo andSusie Day Gorenflo.

She was a 1939 graduate of Brookhaven High School. She was ahomemaker and at one time, she was a seamstress at Stahl-Urban. Sheand her husband owned and operated Foster’s Superette and J.M.Foster Trucking Co. on New Sight Road. She was a volunteer atKing’s Daughters Medical Center and a member of LLL. For severalyears, she was active in the Brookhaven Garden Club, where sheshared her love for raising African violets with her many friendsand neighbors. As a charter member of Halbert Heights BaptistChurch, she served as a children’s Sunday school teacher. Morerecently, she was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church and agrateful recipient of their homebound ministry.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 48years, J.M. Foster; her son, Jimmy Foster; and her brothers,Charles, Isham and J.R. Gorenflo.

Survivors are her son Roger Glenn Foster and wife Jan, ofBrandon; her daughters, Wanda Evans and husband Charley, ofBrookhaven, Pam Guitreau and husband David, of Baton Rouge, La.;her daughter-in-law, Peggy Foster, of Brookhaven; her sisters,Juanita Smith and Bess Norwood, both of Brookhaven; hergrandchildren, Cindy Smith, Christi Mills, Debbie Evans, BarryFoster, Jeff Evans, Jennifer Allen, Kimberly Collins, Rusty Allenand Carrie Foster; 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces andnephews.
