Lee Wilson Deer

Services for Lee Wilson Deer, of McComb, are 10 a.m. Wednesday,Aug. 2 at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb with burial inNavilla Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9a.m. until the 10 a.m. services at the funeral home.

Mr. Deer, 72, died July 30, 2006, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Pike Countyon June 15, 1934, to Walter Jackson Deer and Etta Lee WilsonDeer.

He was a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force after 20years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He owned andoperated Lee Deer Construction Co. for almost 25 years.

Mr. Deer was a longtime member, deacon and Sunday school teacherat Navilla Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his stepmother,Louise Deer; four brothers, Gilbert Earl “Curley” Deer, Carl Deer,Louis Deer and Walter Deer Jr.; and one sister, Myrtle Bellon.

Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Virginia Louise Yates Deer;his mother-in-law, Dorothy Yates; three daughters, Deborah Robertsand her husband, Charles, of McComb, Deloras Young and her husband,Pete, of McComb, Donna Dyess and her husband, Rickey, of CrystalSprings; four sister-in-laws, Euna Deer, of Ft. Walton, Fla., JillDeer, of Kentucky, Marie Deer, of Baker, La., and Sharon Bardwell,of Jayess; four brothers, Fred Deer and his wife, Carol, of Cary,N.C., Gene Deer and his wife, Janice, of McComb, Harold Deer andhis wife Susie, of McComb, and Jimmy Deer and his wife, Lexine, ofMcComb; four sisters, Laverne Mote and her husband, William, ofMcComb, Loyce Barclay and her husband, John, of Magnolia, JewelBowlin and her husband, Kelly, of Liberty, and Sylvia Gonzales andher husband, Hecter, of New Orleans, La.; 10 grandchildren, HeatherJetton and Brad, Holly Smith, Hope Smith, Hanna Smith, KimberlyBrister and Eric, Matthew Wilson, Stephanie Herrin, Jonathan Young,all of McComb, Christy Dyess and Melissa Dyess, of Crystal Springs;and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ron Yates, Prentis “Bubba” Dean, EdwardYates, Carl Linton, James Wicker and Jewel Deer.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice in McComb.

Annie Lou Harris Hilliard

Services for Annie Lou Harris Hilliard, of Sontag, are 2 p.m.Thursday, Aug. 3 at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sontag with burial inthe church cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 1 until 8 p.m. with family hourfrom 7 until 8 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.

Mrs. Hilliard, 64, died July 27, 2006, at Central MississippiRegional Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 26, 1941, to VersieHarris Sr. and Pearlene Harris.

She was retired. She was a member of Pine Grove M.B. Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Henry Hilliard, of Wesson; her son,Alvin Harris, of Sontag; two brothers, Versie Harris Jr. andCharles Harris, both of Queens, N.Y.; her aunt, Barbara Reese, ofSontag; her caregiver, Annie Bussie, of Sontag; and a host ofnieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gary Dean ‘Opie’ Hughes II

Services for Gary Dean “Opie” Hughes II, of Brookhaven, are 2p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service withburial in Arlington Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5 until 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gary, 26, died July 23, 2006, in Tyler, Texas, of injuriessustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Brookhaven onDec. 21, 1979, to Gary Hughes Sr. and Mary Hughes Ethridge, ofBrookhaven.

He worked with Separation Services Inc., in Dallas, Texas. Heattended Loyd Star Attendance Center, where he played football. Healso attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He attended Churchof the Nazarene and Jackson Street United Methodist Church. He wasa devoted father and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, the Rev. Ray andViolet McDonald, Buddy Hughes and Shirley Hampton.
