Bobbie Nell Mullen Beard

Services for Bobbie Nell Mullen Beard, of Wesson, are 10 a.m.Thursday at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel with burial atLittle Bahala Baptist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday nightfrom 5 until 9 p.m.

Mrs. Beard, 69, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Silver CrossNursing Home. She was born in Wesson, March 23, 1937, to Tom andChristine Mullen and lived her early years in the Stronghopecommunity. She was a longtime employee of Potter Company and amember of Little Bahala Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death are her parents, son Tommy Ray Beard, andbrother Bill Mullen.

Survivors are her husband of 52 years, J.R. Beard, and daughtersand sons-in-law, Darlene and Ward Gaston, and Deloris and RandyFurr; and her devoted Pomeranian Comanche Dude. She is alsosurvived by her sister Sue Elkins Wilkinson and brother JimmyMullen and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Beard was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for herfamily and friends. She enjoyed her yard work, flowers, gardening,canning, growing African violets and she spent many hourscrocheting. She was a kind, gentle and giving person. She was adevoted wife and dedicated mother who loved and cherished herchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers are nephews David Floyd, Robert Beard, RandallBeard, Kelvin Elkins, Steve Elkins and a longtime friend, John PaulMartin.

Mary Maude Buckley

Services for Mary Maude Glover Buckley, of Moss Bluff, La., are10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel inMonticello with burial in New Hebron City Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Buckley, 84, died Aug. 8, 2006, at her residence. She wasborn on June 3, 1922, to the Rev. Daniel Wesley Glover and HattieElizabeth Miller Glover.

She was a retired interior designer. She was a member of SecondBaptist Church of Bridge City, Texas.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, JamesEdwin Buckley; her son, Jimmy Drane; her daughter, Mary DraneSharp; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors are her daughter, Beth Beltz, of Moss Bluff; and herseven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

William H. Jones

Services for William H. Jones, of Summit, are 2 p.m. Friday,Aug. 11, at Moaks Creek Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery. The Rev. Mike Alexander will officiate. Jones FamilyFuneral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 7 until 10 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Friday from 9 until 11 a.m., at the funeral home, and fromnoon until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Jones, 75, died Aug. 8, 2006, at his residence. He was bornin Summit on Jan. 9, 1931, to William “Bill” and Mada JacksonJones.

He was a Bronze Star recipient, having served in Korea fromOctober 1952 until August 1953. In his citation it states, “Oftencalled upon to work under direct enemy observation and fire,Sergeant Jones consistently displayed a calm, determined courage inaccomplishing his mission. His loyalty, initiative, and devotion toduty earned him the respect and admiration of all those with whomhe served. The meritorious service rendered by Sergeant Jonesthroughout this period reflects great credit on him and themilitary service.”

After finishing his apprenticeship as a machinist he worked forThomas W. Hooley & Sons Inc., for several years before openingJ&B Machine Shop in Kenner, La., and was there until hisretirement in 1994.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his daughter,Bridget.

Survivors are his wife, Oneida Woodall Jones; his son, WilliamH. “Bill” Jones and Shirley Hymel Jones, of Destrehan, La.; hisgrandchildren, Kristie Lynn Jones, Dustin Howard Jones and BeauMatthew Jones.

Pallbearers are Dustin H. Jones, Beau M. Jones, Steve Barksdale,Jim Barksdale, John Paul Weingand and Harold Jones.

Honorary pallbearers are Delton Moak, Clyde Dillon, Ronald DaleJones, Robert Hebert and J.D. Hall.

Genevieve Dykes Prescott

Services for Genevieve Dykes Prescott, of Magnolia, are 11 a.m.Thursday, Aug. 10, at Terry’s Creek Baptist Church in Magnolia withburial in the church cemetery. Jones Family Funeral Services inMcComb is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the serviceat the church.

Mrs. Prescott, 79, died Aug. 8, 2006, at her residence. She wasborn in Kentwood, La., on Dec. 10, 1926, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles F.Dykes.

She was a loving wife and mother. She was a longtime member ofTerry’s Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy P. Prescott.

Survivors are her son, Charles Edward Prescott and his wifeSylvia, of Denham Springs, La.; her daughter, Mary Ellen Bristerand her husband Charles, of Amite, La.; her sister, Helen DykesFrazier, of Pride, La.; her grandchildren, Scott Prescott, Chrisand wife Rachel Prescott, of Denham Springs, Amanda Brister Balesand husband David, Denise Brister Murphy and husband Pat, of Amite;her five great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Kaylyn Murphy, andAbigail, Eathan and Will Prescott.
