Law officials make three arrests in burglary

Local law enforcement officials have quickly resolved themidweek burglary of a downtown business and have recovered most ofthe items taken.

Brookhaven Police Department Investigator Roger Wilson said thedepartment arrested two juveniles and a 17 year old Friday inconnection with the early Thursday morning break-in at HollywoodBeauty Mart, located at the corner of Jackson Street and CourtStreet.

“The 17 year old is being charged as an adult,” Wilson said.

Eric Charles, 17, of 334 E. Chickasaw St., Brookhaven, has beencharged with burglary of a commercial building by the BrookhavenPolice Department.

BPD Officer Marzell Brooks saw a person wearing jewelry matchingthe description of items taken in the robbery and notified Wilson.The ensuing investigation led to the arrests.

“Capt. Bobby Bell also contributed to the investigation,” Wilsonsaid.

Some of the items recovered include jewelry and shirts.

“They dropped a few pieces across the street,” Wilson said.

A plate glass windown on the east side of the building had beenbroken during the robbery which allowed the thieves access to thebeauty supply store, Wilson said Thursday.

Wilson anticipated recovering the remainder of the missingbeauty supply store property Monday.
