Services for Thomas “Tom” Brown, of Brookhaven, are 9 a.m.Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery. The Rev. Wiley B.Reid will officiate.

Visitation is today from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown, 88, died Aug. 13, 2006, at Countrybrook Living Centerfollowing a lengthy illness. He lived most of his life in the FairOak Springs community. He was born on May 2, 1918, to Thomas Brownand Augusta Annie Thomas Brown.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Heserved in the South Pacific and was a recipient of the Purple Heartfor his service. He worked with the United States Department ofAgriculture Crop Reporting as supervisor of the Southwest Districtof Mississippi for several years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, PeggyOtheal Brown; his sisters, Regina B. Warren, Lorrine B. Revel andEvelyn B. Glover; and his brother, Clinton G. Brown.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Helen Boyd Brown; his sons,Neil O. Brown, Ladique “Lad” Brown and wife Beth, Bryan O. Brownand Savage E. Brown, all of Brookhaven; his grandchildren, ThomasLadique “Deke” Brown, Jacob Wayne “Jake” Brown, Nicole B. Reinike,Lane Marie Brown and Sharon Lynn Brown; his brother, Thurman L.Brown and wife Dottie, of Baton Rouge, La.; his sister-in-law, MaryLouise Brown; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives andfriends.
