Panthers 11-2 over West Lincoln

Despite the 11 errors between both teams, the visitingBrookhaven Lady Panthers posted an 11-2 win over the West LincolnLady Bears Thursday night in slowpitch softball action.
The Lady Panthers outhit the Lady Bears 12-6. Brookhavencommitted four errors to West Lincoln’s seven.
“We hit the ball well the first few innings,” said Brookhavencoach Lisa Covington. “We played well defensively.”
Brianna Ashmore was the winning pitcher with no strikeouts orwalks. Stephanie Smith took the loss, striking out none and walkingfour.
“We are struggling to hit the ball,” said West Lincoln coachAndrew Redd. “We have been struggling the past three games. Weplayed solid defense after the second inning but we can not affordseven errors.”
For the 2-3 Lady Panthers, Terri Hodges led the way with adouble and two singles. Doubling and singling was Christi Martin.Jordan Beeson singled twice. Doubling was Katie Stewart. HannahLowman, Kelsey Freeman, Georgia Rae Rainer and Ashmore singled.
West Lincoln (2-4) got a single from Holli Smith, Hannah Knouse,Alexis Cook, Heather Huff, Ashley McCaffery and Kelsey Bass.
Junior varsity play
West Lincoln knocked off Brookhaven 11-10 in the JV game.Jessica Franklin was the winning hurler with no strikeouts and nowalks. Brooke Hosick was the loser with no strikeouts and sixwalks.
Leading West Lincoln with two singles each were JessicaFranklin, Haley Ainsworth and Megan Lea. Kelsey Smith and JulieCase singled.
Brookhaven got a double and a single from Freeman. KarleeMartin, Madeline Delaughter, Jodie Woolsey and Brooke Hosick hitsafely.
