Lady ‘Cats nip Lady Jags 7-5

SUMMIT — The Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats knocked off the North PikeLady Jaguars by a score of 7-5 Thursday night in slowpitch softballaction. North Pike, coached by Sonya Wallace, is 6-2 on theseason.

Bogue Chitto, coached by Scott Leggett, went up 3-0 in the firstinning and led until the bottom of the fifth. North Pike added 3runs in the fifth, plus 2 scored in the fourth, for a 5-3 lead.

The Lady ‘Cats roared back with 4 runs in the top of the sixthfor the 7-5 lead and eventual win.

Powering Bogue Chitto at the plate with a double and 2 singleswas Kelli Howard. Dori Hall doubled and singled. Doubling wereChelsey Miller, Caitlin Owen and Braxton. Devon Welch and CandaceAvants singled.

North Pike was led at the plate by Maggie Dunaway, Hali Sasserand Lindsey Moak with a pair of singles apiece. Kaitlyn Perry,Leonna Ballard, Catherine West and Kayla Stockton hit safely.

Both teams collected 10 runs apiece. North Pike committed 4errors and Bogue Chitto had 3.

The winning pitcher was Latoya Braxton with 1 strikeout and 2walks. Sasser finished with 2 strikeouts and 5 walks.

Bogue Chitto will host a softball tournament Saturday.

Junior varsity action

North Pike beat Bogue Chitto 6-3 in the JV contest.

Powering North Pike with a triple and a single was Kelsey Lord.Lindsey Johnston doubled and singled. Ripping a pair of singles wasAlana Hopkins. Charmeissa Gordon doubled. Singling were BriannaBrister, Malerie Little and Marissa Jenkins.

Bogue Chitto got 2 doubles from Josie Porter. Kimberlee Thomassingled twice. Morgan Roberts hit safely.
