Frank Carroll Allen

Services for Frank Carroll Allen, of Ridgeland, formerly ofMonticello, were 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at Monticello BaptistChurch with burial in Hazlehurst City Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Homeis in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Allen, 92, died Aug. 24, 2006, at his residence. He was bornon Nov. 10, 1913, to Walter Scott Allen and May Ellis Allen.

He was a retired bank president. He was an U.S. Army veteran ofWorld War II. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, MarneeAlford Allen; his three brothers; his two sisters and onenephew.

Survivors are his wife, Pattie Henry Hudson Allen, of Ridgeland;his daughters, Marnee Rumowicz, of Ridgeland, Susan Allen Bryan, ofHouston, Texas, and Jane A. Evans, of Monticello; and his sixgrandchildren.

Peachie M. Byrd

Services for Peachie M. Byrd, of Roxie, were 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug.27, at Roxie First Baptist Church with burial in Zion Cemetery.Marshall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Byrd, 57, died Aug. 21, 2006, at McComb CardiovascularInstitute. She was born in White Apple on Nov. 1, 1948, to BerthaThomas and Julius Hannon.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, HarveyThomas, Johnnie Hannon and James Thomas; and her grandson, JeremyMartin.

Survivors are her sons, Terrance Hannon, James Martin andMcKinley Martin; her daughters, Gwenett Hughes, Cherline Hannon andAlice Thomas; her brothers, Charlie Thomas and Bobby Thomas; hissister, Clarice Harrison; her grandson, Cleon Hannon; hergranddaughter, Brandi Hannon; and a host of nieces, nephews, andother relatives.

Lyvon Gill DeYoung

Services for Lyvon Gill DeYoung, of River Ridge, La., were 3:30p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at Harrigill Funeral Home in Brookhaven withburial in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in McCall Creek. TheRevs. Andrew Wiggins, Wiley Reid and Dr. Wayne Webster willofficiate.

Mrs. DeYoung, 72, died Aug. 25, 2006, at Jefferson HealthcareCenter in Jefferson La. She was born in Franklin County on April11, 1934, to Edard and Bessie Johnston Gill.

She was retired, having managed offices for Gordon’s Jewelersfor 17 years and for KOA Campgrounds in River Ridge for 16 years.She was an active and faithful member of Rio Vista Baptist Churchin Jefferson, La. Mrs. DeYoung was beloved by a host of family andfriends, as she was a kind, generous, and loving friend to all.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, James E.”Peanut” Smith and Lyons “Lonnie” Westbrook; a stepdaughter andstepson-in-law, Darlene and Norman Booksh; and a step grandson,Shane Lynn.

Survivors are her husband Nicholas DeYoung, of JeffersonHealthcare Center in Jefferson, La.; her sister and brother-in-law,Reba and Raymond Roberts, of Brookhaven; her step grandson, AndrewBooksh and his wife, Beth, of Charlotte, N.C.; her stepgranddaughters, Ruth Lynn, of Lincolnton, N.C., and CatherineGerald and her husband Rick, of Ft. Mill, S.C.; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

Palbearers are Dan Eastin, David Gill, Harold Gill, Wayne Gill,Ricky Johnston, and Richard Tassin.

Mildred Piper Warren Price

Services for Mildred Piper Warren Price, of Brookhaven, are 11a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at First United Methodist Church with burialin Rose Hill Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Price, 93, died Aug. 26, 2006 at her home. She was born onSept. 4, 1912, to Bruce C. Young and Bertha Brown Young.

She was the retired owner of Jack’s Shop and Millanes ofBrookhaven. She was a member of First Methodist Church. She wasalso a member of the Camillia Club, the Sewing Club, the Mother’sClture Club and the LLL Club. She was a treasured mother,grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family and lovedher church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, JackPiper Sr., Harold Warren and Shelby Price; her stepson, Hal Warren;her brother, Bruce Young; her sister, Madeline Tomlin; and herbrother-in-law, Ray Tomlin.

Survivors are her son, Jack C. Piper and his wife, Shirley, ofBrookhaven; her daughter, Kathleen Smith and her husband, JerryRalph Smith, of Brookhaven; her sister, Dorothy Finklestein and herhusband, Jack, of Titusville, N.J.; her sister-in-law, Mary Young,of San Antonio, Texas; her stepchildren, Milburn Price and hiswife, Barbara, of Birmingham, Ala., Nevalyn Moore, and her husband,Jim, of Campbelsville, Ky., Andrea Warren Martin, of Plano, Texas,and Sara Warren Sweeney, of California; her grandchildren, SheriRichardson and her husband, Steve, of Madison, Louann Smith and herhusband, Buddy, of Longbeach, Michael Piper and his wife, Bethany,of Albany, La., Laura Hill and her husband, Al, of New Albany,Ohio, and Stacia Owen and her husband, Scott, of Overland Park,Kan.; and her great-grandchildren, Jessica Richardson, ChadRichardson, Cody Smith, Devin Smith, Torri Smith, Gracie Piper,Piper Hill, Jackson Hill, Bishop Owen and Harper Owen.

Mrs. Smith, 91, died Aug. 26, 2006, at Haven Hall Nursing Home.She was born in Lincoln County on Sept. 27, 1914, to George B.Gaskin and Willie Rae Higdon Gaskin.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Southway BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parets; her husband, V. RaySmith; and her brother-in-law, Jack B. Smith.

Survivors are her sons, Donald Gene Smith and his wife, Rita,and Ronald D. Smith and his wife, Sanda G., all of Brookhaven; herdaughter, Doris K. Fletcher, of Madison; her sister, Josey Smith,of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, Lacey Fox, of Enterprise, Ala.,Brad Smith, of Birmingham, Ala, and Kevin Smith, of Hattiesburg;and two great-grandchildren, Jessica Fox and Kirsten Fox.
