Services for Donald Eugene Porter, of Smithdale, are 11 a.m.Saturday, Sept. 2, at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb with burial inOak Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Smithdale. The Rev.Lee Castello and Elder Floyd Wilkinson will officiate.

Visitation is today from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home, andon Saturday from 9 until 11 a.m.

Mr. Porter, 73, died Aug. 30, 2006, at Covington County Hospitalin Collins after a lengthy illness. He was born in Franklin Countyon Feb. 1, 1933, to Ross Porter and Zadie McGehee Porter.

He was retired from his job in road maintenance with the statehighway department in Mississippi. He was a member of North McCombBaptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Pearl MarieSasser Porter; his sisters, Dorothy Dale Porter and Helen MelissaHoward; his brother, Van Dupree Porter, and two infantbrothers.

Survivors are his daughter Cynthia Ann Wilkinson and husbandW.E. “Buddy,” of Smithdale; his brother, Randolph “Pete” Porter andwife Marie, of McCall Creek; his grandchildren, Samantha Wilkinson,Jessica Wilkinson, Annette Wicker, Beverly Johnson and MargaretGraves; six great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Elaine Porter;and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Jerry Howard, Larry Sasser, Larry Howard, DannySasser, Sid Sasser and Tom Pickett. Honorary pallbearers are themen of North McComb Baptist Church.
