Lady ‘Cats rip Lady Bears

The visiting Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats outscored the West LincolnLady Bears 7-2 in the final two innings, breaking a 4-all tie andescaping with an 11-6 district win Thursday night.

“It was a great district win,’ said Bogue Chitto head coachScott Leggett. “Both teams hit the ball well. We still have to getit going in the middle innings.”

At the plate, Bogue Chitto outhit West Lincoln 15-14. The LadyBears committed two errors as the Lady ‘Cats made none.

“We hit the ball better today,” said West Lincoln coach AndrewRedd. “But our defense fell apart. We did not play really gooddefense today. Bogue Chitto did a good job getting base runnersacross the plate.”

Monday, Bogue Chitto hosts Dexter and West Lincoln is atEnterprise.

Bogue Chitto (11-1, 3-0) took a 3-1 lead over West Lincoln (7-7,3-1) in the first inning. The Lady ‘Cats added a run in the top ofthe fourth for a 4-1 lead. In the bottom of the fifth, the LadyBears came back with three runs to tie the game at 4-all.

Shaquille Burton powered Bogue Chitto with a double and twosingles. Caitlin Owen drilled a pair of doubles. Following with adouble and a single was Candace Avants. Collecting two singles eachwere Chelsey Miller and Jessie Miller. Kelli Howard, LaToyaBraxton, Dori Hall and Darcy Miller singled.

For the Lady Bears, Hannah Krouse led with a pair of doubles anda pair of singles. Keri Easley doubled and singled twice. HolliSmith singled four times. Ripping two singles was Megan Neal.Alexis Cook hit safely.

Braxton was the winning pitcher with no strikeouts and no walks.Stephanie Smith took the loss with a strikeout and pair ofwalks.

Junior varsity play

Bogue Chitto knocked off West Lincoln 14-7 in the JVgame.

Toy Smith got the win, fanning three batters and walkingthree. Taking the loss was Jessica Franklin with no strikeouts andeight walks.

Leading the Lady ‘Cats with a triple and three singleswas Kimberlee Thomas. Darcy Miller tripled twice. Doubling andsingling was Mikki Mitchell. Josie Porter singled twice. MorganRoberts and Amanda Owen singled.

The Lady Bears were led by Taylor Crews with a triple.Julie Case, Haley Ainsworth, Katie Mullins, Alana Cupit, Kayla BethRushing, Kelsey Smith and Karli Herrington singled.
