Undefeated BA Cougars welcome Wilkinson

The undefeated Brookhaven Academy Cougars put their 3-0 winningstreak on the line Friday night when they entertain the WilkinsonCounty Christian Academy Rams. The game kicks off at 7 p.m.
In area academy action, Copiah travels to Prentiss ChristianSchool, Adams County Christian School invades Parklane. Unionentertains Tri-County tonight.
In this week’s Associated Press Class A/AA/AA Private School Top20 Football Poll, Brookhaven is ranked No. 7.
Brookhaven, coached by Bo Milton, handed district foe Columbia a28-7 loss last Friday. WCCA (1-2) whipped Tensas (La.) 40-12.
“WCCA is sound on both sides of the ball,” said Milton. “Theyhave a couple of good skilled athletes, tailback No. 7 and splitend No. 1. They run out of the I, off tackle and sweeps.
“Defensively, they run out of a 5-3 most of the time,” continuedMilton.
When asked about being undefeated, Milton replied. “It’s stillearly. We are still feeling our way, We want to get better eachweek. It’s going to be a good ball game. WCCA is well coached.”
In the win over Columbia, Brookhaven was led by seniorquarterback Price Sessums who rushed the football 10 times for 235yards and scored three touchdowns. Nathaneal Sbravati rushed seventimes for 54 yards. Finishing with six rushes for 38 yards and a TDwas Kolby Byrd.
The Cougar defense was led by Byrd with 12 tackles. AaronDouglas followed with 11 stops.
Last year, Brookhaven stomped WCCA 29-7.
Copiah jumped into the column last week with a14-7 victory over Oak Forest (La.). Coach Mitch Mitchell’s 1-2Colonels hit the road for a meeting with the Prentiss ChristianSchool Saints in another district test.
Prentiss Christian handed Amite School Center a 28-6 defeat lastFriday.
“Prentiss Christian has a very good running back,” saidMitchell. “They play real aggressive. They are real physical. Theyplay good solid football.
“Defensively, they line up in a split 4 ,” added Mitchell. “Theysend in a lot of linebackers. They like to create big plays.”
Mitchell said he has four players, including three starters outfor the week. The starters areJed Stevens, Brandon Greer andMatthew Stewart.
Jake Guess rushed 18 times for 109 yards and scored a touchdownin the victory over Oak Forest.
On defense, the Colonels were paced by Alex Guess with 12tackles. Jake Guess and Matthew Wright collected eight tacklesapiece.
Copiah and Prentiss Christian did not play last year.
Parklane fell to Lamar School 30-19 lastFriday. The McComb-based Pioneers, coached by Charlie Newlon, areback home to host Adams County Christian School.
Parklane (2-1) is ranked No. 9 in this weeks AP Class A.AA/AAPrivate School Top 20 Football Poll
ACCS dropped a 20-14 decision to Silliman Institute lastFriday.
Parklane and ACCS did not play last season.
Union suffered its third loss of the season,falling to CM&I 1-0 by forfeit last week. Coaching theGeorgetown-based Saints (0-3) is Billy Joe McManus.
Tri-County (2-1) hammered Rebul 35-6 last Friday.
