Edgar ‘Slick’ Coleman

Services for Edgar Leon “Slick” Coleman, of Ruth, are 2 p.m.Thursday, Sept. 21, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery. Hartman Funeral Home of McComb is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is today from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home, andon Thursday from noon until the time of the service at thechurch.

Mr. Coleman, 70, died Sept. 19, 2006, at the University MedicalCenter in Jackson. He was born in Jonesville, La., on Aug. 27,1936, to Ralph and Elouise Gurie Coleman.

He was a U.S. Army Special Forces veteran and served during theKorean War. He was an oil field worker and a retired truck driver.He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, DonnaKay Coleman.

Survivors are his wife of 35 years, Wanda Kay Coleman, of Ruth;his sons, Kirk Allen and wife Stephanie, and Dennis Coleman andwife Tami, all of Ruth, and Eddie Coleman and Robert Coleman, bothof Louisiana; his daughters, Debbie Mathas and husband George, ofRuth, Sheila Boltes, of Georgia, and Shelly Arcuri, of Louisiana;his brothers, Art Coleman, of Louisiana, and Shelby Coleman andBilly Joe Coleman, both of Oklahoma; his sisters, Del Bourdier, ofArkansas, and Mozelle Coleman, Shirley Butts and Patsy Young, allof Louisiana; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren,nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Ky Mathas, Lonnie Boyd, Taylor Allen, JohnnyAllen, Delton Lawrence and Charles McKee.
